Man this is a great song.  Mike and the Mechanics - Silent Running.  Never got into them that much but I always loved this song, and hearing it on the radio reminded me about it.  Any fans and suggestions for albums?

The intro sounds so fucking familiar. I don't know from where or what.

Cool song.  Usually makes it on to my 80s playlists.  Their other hits were "The Living Years" and "All I Need Is a Miracle."

:lol  Well, this thread was a bit of a revelation for me.  I had heard of Mike and the Mechanics but never paid any attention to them, thinking that they were just another of the many 80s new-wavish bands that I typically ignore (but enjoy in rather faceless manner).  But since wolfking has such great taste in music, I clicked anyway and lo and behold a wave of nostalgia sweeps over me.  Great song brings back great memories, but my second thought was:  this song sounds a lot like 80s f&cking Genesis.  So I hit wiki and lo and behold I find out that "Mike" is the great bassist, Mike Rutherford of Genesis.  Well duh for me

:lol Maybe I should have mentioned it was Mike from Genesis, I thought it was common knowledge.

Anyway, the mission of my thread has been accomplished, sharing this damn good song.  I'm listening to it again right now.  :tup
