Kev, we're not that far off in our assessment of the R.E.M. catalogue.  Murmur is definitely top three.  I would never put Automatic as best, but I'm in the same place with Reckoning, Fables, and Hi-fi.

I do like Superman, though.  I love when Mike and Michael trade off vocals like that.

Murmur benefits by a better mix as well. Unlike all of their other 80's albums, all of which suffer from having that dead drum sound of the 70's, Murmur has actual low end that you can hear in the mix.

I love Document & I think Green is one of their weakest albums. I always forget its a WB album and usually lump it in with the IRS years.

Maybe cause they didn't really hit it massive until Out Of Time.

WB must have been sh*tting themselves when they re-signed REM for an alleged $80m and then got UP.
