Cradle of Filth
« on: December 08, 2010, 05:11:17 PM »
Got tickets for a guy I'm dating (very good friend) to see them in February (with him).  Never listened to them...just heard a couple songs and looked online at some of their shirts and stuff.  Gotta say, I'm fearful of my life.  If I'm the only "normal" looking person there, and even GIRL for that matter, guaranteed some sacrificial ritual will occur.  WTF am I getting myself in to?!  W-T-F!

Her Ghost in the Fog is a good song, but the female singer is TERRIBLE live.

Have fun :lol

DAMNIT!

Dude, seriously, the music scares me.  And when he wears his Cradle of Filth shirt, I barely hug him...just something about that band.    :-\

I used to really like this band, gone off them a lot in recent years though. Don't worry about being the only girl, if anything there will probably be more girls than guys at an average CoF gig, something about their imagery and especially their lyrics seem to really appeal to the average femle goth. And don't be scared of them! Their singer Dani is always cracking jokes on stage and generally taking the piss, their music is actually very light-hearted and they definitely don't take themselves too seriously. And they put on a very good, theatrical show. You'l have a great time.

My roommate loves this band... me, not so much. There's a few songs on Nymphetamine and their greatest hits album that I like, but not much else.

You're a fucking stupid bitch.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Trust me, you will not be the only girl there. Cradle of Filth has a huge female fanbase in comparison to most other metal bands.

Don't worry, they're generally all posers.

Nymphetamine (the song) rules.  I haven't actually listened to any of their other music for several years.

CoF is decent. A lot of their songs are hit or miss for me. I like some parts and not some others. I love that section though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh0f5fxDEgE (4:40-5:40)

agreed they are very hit or miss. However their album 'Damnation And A Day' is fantastic from start to finish. I would go as far as to call it a masterpiece.

Say what you will, but I LOVE Dani's lyrics. They're so pretentious, but very well-written and conjures up lots of mental images.

"She was divinity's creature that kissed in cold mirrors, a queen of snow
Far beyond compare, lips attuned to symmetry, sought her everywhere
Dark liquored eyes; an Arabian nightmare...."

Hauntingly romantic. That's what I like about Cradle. They have a certain atmosphere that no other band is able to capture.

Bathory Aria is just mind blowing to me. The lyrics, even the voice of Dani Filth and I aint too fond on pig squeals or screams really.

I think Death Metal fans consider this band the N'Sync of their genre, no need to worry, it's a genre that attracts pretentious mofos, you'll see more dangerous people at an Eminem concert heh

Oh my God I remember having a terrible experience just watching their "From the Cradle to Enslave" video when I was 13-14. It was horrible! I can't listen to a band who's singer I cannot understand a word (except DT).

Actually, let me remove that video since it has nudity :lol

Edit 2: Watching it again I couldn't stop grinning watching it. So ridiculous.

From the Cradle to Enslave is one of my favorite music videos of all time. Like Emin said it has nudity, gore, and plenty of downright weird shit, so it's NSFW, but definitely watch it when you get the chance. It's awesome.

I'm a moderate fan from time to time (not often though), but anyway keep in mind that the band are very tongue-in-cheek about their music. They don't take it particularly seriously, and I don't think many of their fans do either. You'll be fine!

i survived! i need a bumper sticker or key chain or button that reads "i survived a cradle of filth concert"

wasn't all that bad actually. plus, it was at the nokia theater and right between the nokia and the staples center was a justin bieber movie premier/concert thing so i was more afraid of the 13 year old girls in slutty tight dresses with heels they couldn't walk in than the fully clothed concert go-ers.

Bumping because I'm on a huge Cradle of Filth kick right now. I stand by what I said several posts up - the atmosphere this band creates for the listener is incredible.

Oh god, I had forgotten about this band. I remembered that the first time I listened to them I couldn't stop. Especially since I kept listening to the Nyphetamine album and the song Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids.
“Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.”
