Suicidal Tendencies appreciation thread
« on: December 06, 2010, 04:19:43 PM »
Just wanted to express some appreciation for this awesome band.  These guys changed their sound considerably over the years, but perhaps some of their best work was at the end of the '80s and early '90s when they seemlessly melded thrash, punk, and funk to create a pretty unique sound.  I was just listening to Lights, Camera, Revolution the other day and was reminded of how talented a band this was.

I am not too familiar with them but really liked the album I had when I was younger.

Never really got into them, but I played Trip On The Brain a lot on my radio show.

Saw them open for Queensryche on the Empire tour.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

That was my first exposure to them, too, and they blew me away.

Yeah, it was an incredible performance. Even though they really weren't my thing, they certainly held my attention. Mike Muir...WTF..the guy was insane.

It definitely seemed like an odd pairing, QR & ST.

Rocky George was hugely under-rated amongst the guitarist of the era, One of my favorite bands to see live. Mike Muir's energy was unmatched at the time. Was a fan of theirs back in the punks days (I saw your Mommy, Instutionalized) When "Join the Army" came out I was a bit disappointed, as I was expecting another punk album, but soon fell in love with the album...(just listen to "War Inside My Head" and tell me you don't want to get up and slam dance)

Anyone who likes Suicidal needs to check out some of their side projects

No Mercy...Muir and Clark.......speed metal

Infectious Grooves ...Muir/Trujillo ....Funk Metal/Rock  along the lines of RHCP and Primus

Fishbone...although previously established as a Ska band...Rocky George now plays with them

One of my classmates has a Suicidal Tendencies t-shirt he uses for the gym class. He doesn't know they're a band, he listens to our shitty Croatian pop music. :lol

I had their best of album on cassette back in the day.  It was one of my favorite things to listen to when I was a paper boy.  Any band that sings "I shot Reagan" can't be bad.
