Could MP Tour With Chickenfoot??
« on: November 24, 2010, 05:29:50 PM »
Chad Smith will help record the next Chickenfoot record, but will hit the road with the RHCP at the same time Chickenfoot is set to tour, and they are looking for a replacement to use on the road. Now that he is a freelance drummer, could you see MP jamming with these guys next spring and summer? Especially with his connections with Satch, it could happen.

Out of all the things Mike could do, I think that'd be pretty lame.

Satch said the other day he'd like to get the best drummer available. MP fits that criteria. Might be fun.

I can see it. It wouldn't make me any more interested in Chickenfoot, but that's cool.

Yeah, but I'd like to see Mike do something that's actually musically interesting.

I think Jeff Campitelli would be awesome (Satch's own drummer). But he probably wouldn't fit the bill, since he's not a 'legend'. For me, personally, he is. Love his groovy style and feel.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Love wathcing his playing.  When I saw Satch live I was watching Jeff just as much as Satch, a solid solid, underrated drummer.  Love watching him on the live in San Fransisco DVD too.

Love Satch, but Chickenfoot was lame.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I think that'd be a solid option for MP. I like Chickenfoot.

Both of these, although when the songs come up on shuffle, they're nice to hear.

Yeah, I agree with the last two posts. It's okay, but nowhere near as awesome as it should have been. Mike touring with them would be kinda a downer compered to other things he could be doing though.

I think he'd be a good fit established-musician-wise. Not necessarily music-wise in terms of Dream Theater versus Van Halen and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but that's not to say he doesn't/can't play that kind (we all know he likes the bands and obviously can play the material), so I wouldn't be surprised if he became their drummer.

Let's hope they wrote some songs this time, then it would be awesome with the talent in the band (and Michael Anthony lol).

I guess MP would consider it but I thought he wanted a couple of years off...

Actually, MP's been pretty clear that he meant he justed needed a couple of years off "from Dream Theater."

It would be a good gig for him.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I could see it happening. MP was on Eddie Trunk's Show right when their first album came out and I remember them discussing it some. Never did buy the album though.

Not a must-buy, but it's good. Not great, but listenable. There are a few songs that stick out and are better than the others, but overall just straight up rock.
