The "What did PC miss from 2010?" Poll
« on: November 22, 2010, 07:08:50 AM »
Okay, here's the deal. I still don't have a lot of records I wanted to check out this year. So you vote for which ones I should get, and I'll go out and purchase the top two or three. K?

List is in half-assed alphabetic order.

Everyone can vote for 4.

If you voted "other," keep in mind that this year I bought the new Iron Maiden, A7X, Periphery, Terrasect, Blind Guardian, Robert Plant, James LaBrie, Porcupine Tree, Haken, Star One, PoS, and other stuff I'm probably forgetting.

1 vote so far for Accept's Blood Of A Nation

1 vote so far for Valley of Smoke by Intronaut

Helloween (Great new album)
Opeth (BWP live!)
Spock's Beard (Barely listened to it, but it's SB)
Transatlantic (Epic beyond epic)
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

The reason I've held off on the Opeth and TA DVDs is because my current living situation doesn't really lend to their full enjoyment. However granted enough votes I'd concede to watching them on the laptop :)

Perp,
You gotta check out the new Blaze. Promise & Terror is my #1 2010 album! Also not listed is Accept's Blood Of A Nation. A great classic heavy metal album.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Coheed and Opeth.  I also selected other, but its intended for the new Pure Reason Revolution that I still haven't heard.  Regardless, I have faith enough in them that you should check them out anyway.

Definitely Alter Bridge III. Don't really know about the live stuff. Firewind and Anathema might be worth having.

Also I said Other: Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape. That's just me though.

Empty Tremor - Iridum sounded pretty good from what I heard of it.

Anathema is an absolute must.

Opeth RAH DVD is excellent and definitely worth checking out, imo especially for the older songs which sound incredible. Riverside is also very good, and well, it was finally released after two years. :lol

Also, if you haven't heard it: The Pineapple Thief - Someone Here is Missing. Great album and definitely worth trying.

If you like Opeth and TA then the live albums (including DVDs) are must-haves.

For my other two, I voted Linkin Park and The River Empires. Both are amazing albums!

there's some albums not on that list that I'd recommend (Agalloch, Emanuel & the Fear, Foals, Orphaned Land, Sufjan Stevens, Janelle Monáe, Oceansize). I didn't realize there was a new Riverside record tho (not that I love them, but their record from 2009 was the 1st album I actually liked by them).

The River Empires

Tetrafusion - Altered State

Here's one of the songs from the album to see if you like it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFd7XiN-obQ&feature=&p=D29F75F8A1225FE5&index=0&playnext=1

If you do like it there's much better on the rest of the album.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

same here. Even with Sufjan Stevens working with them, The National are one of the most overhyped bands of not just this year, but the last 5 years. HIPSTER.

Unfortunately, I likely won't be getting the Opeth DVD. While I wanted it originally, I've heard it's got that really quick "machine gun editing' that Dance of Death and Rock and Rio suffered from. I for one can not stand this kind of thing. Unless someone convinces me it's not that bad, I'm going to have to pass on what might be a stellar performance of stellar material regardless.
