If you think that only Judaism and Christianity "place themselves in actual history", I don't know what to say to you.

Buddhism, Hinduism, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Zoroastrians etc, etc can't be disproved by history.

Oh and By the way, Jesus mentions hell more than anyone else in the New Testament. If there was no need for Hell there would have been no need for Christ in the first place. without Hell there would have been no Christ at all.

I was going to mention this.

If there is no Hell, then what are we saved from? From eternal separation from God? I don't think a nonbeliever would care about that. Punishment (or consequences), though, is different. Being saved from that hopelessness and pain matters. Eternally existing or not existing means that accepting Christ is nothing necessarily important, or, more to the point, nothing saving about it. It becomes more like a club than a rescue at that point.

I guess my question would be, why do you need to saved from anything?

Well, You've rejected God who told you not to reject him...so....you deserve punishment for that. It's ok though. He sent Jesus as a sacrificial substitute so that we wouldn't have to be punished like that. All you neeed to do is repent and put your faith that his sacrifice was sufficient for you.

Depends on your convictions of the existence of God, of sin, of evil (read: lack of good), and what life is about and where it came from. Of course you won't agree if you don't ascribe to the above, but you have to ask yourself: why is this here? Well, you don't have to, but then that is ignorance and not using the mind that God gave you...oh wait, I don't know if you believe God exists. ;)

I guess the real question is........why is a thread about UNCONVENTIONAL beliefs turning into a thread defending christianity when christianity is the most conventional religion currently?

Conventional versus unconventional? I don't know, I just went with the flow of the thread.

Also, red herring.

So in response to the OP:

An uncommon belief I have is that we really need to have some sort of global government. It shouldn't interfere too much with the individual countries or what have you, just set forth a set of basic human rights and enforce them.

Posting my response to Phil in another thread to prevent further derailment.

EDIT: Never mind, not gonna bother. :lol

Yeah, that post really sucked. Sorry James. Posting the exact same thing someone posted before you isn't funny anywhere else but there. It's a 5/8 meme which isn't funny and thankfully hasn't found its way back here. I'm still glad your back though  :(

Can we at least have some srs discussion here?

Also, James, please don't do the 5/8 thing here. It adds nothing to conversation. Keep that in GD

I was just injecting a little fun into things. Its not like I make spam posts all the time. I have had a serious discussion in this thread.
Hey, I won't even post the tick emote just to show you how serious I am.

No, you complained about people belittling your beliefs, then compared mine to being high on drugs.

I didn't appreciate it.

Hmm, I don't think I have very uncommon or controversial beliefs. Because, I attempt to have beliefs that ring obviously true.

I find your lack of faith in logic disturbing.

This thread is confusing me. I post one pic (yes, Tick's picture because it didn't show up, figured I'd post it for him in a way) and everyone is all of a sudden disappointed in me. It's silly.

Oh. You really posted it because it didn't show up to you?

Honestly, it showed up to me (and I assume most others) so it looked like you just posted his pic right after he did, which IS kind of a 5/8 thing to do.

Sorry, next time I'll let you not pull out. We even?
