Just listened to Different Worlds and if I didn't know who it was I could've sworn it was written by Survivor.

Everyone has their own taste for sure. As far as the reunion albums go I said it earlier, my choice would be Moonking, Princess Arrow and 13th Day, the latter being the best for me.

I still like Goodnight L.A., tracks like Mama, Shoot, Only A Memory are Magnum classics, but they sure don't need outside writers and the album on the whole is no comparison to Wings Of Heaven.

What about Bob's solo stuff?

Bob solo, most are very good to great. My favourites are the Gary Hughes penned albums, so The Tower, Legends and Middle Earth.

With regard to the reunion albums, nothing has really grabbed me, but reading back in this thread I was raving about one of them (can't remember which and too lazy to look back) but I can't remember anything about it now  :lol

At a guess I have probably played Catley solo more than Magnum over the years..

In my time, probably me too.

I love When Empires Burn, that might be my fav.  The heavier stuff works for Catley really well IMO.  Spirit of Man has some really good tracks but the production lets it down.  Immortal is a Karlsson penned album and is really awesome too.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Given that I love Magnum a lot and think Bob Catley is one of the better singers out there, I should have long checked out his solo stuff. The only one I know is Immortal and that's not bad at all.

Before the new one is coming out I thought I'd listen to Shadow Garden a few times.

So I put it in my car's CD players and the display says "MANGUM". WFT?  :lol

Oh shit, that's awful.  Class songwriter and they just have a new album out too.  Awful way for the band to end.

Ah, that is so sad, just a couple of days before the new album comes out.

Tony Clarkin is such an underrated guitar player, so many great riffs, so many tasteful solos.

And although the last couple of records are a little bit samey, the band has a great discography over the last 45+ years, and all of them written by Tony.

Agree.  He wasn't flashy but so subtle with excellent note choices, phrasing and melodies.  This is one of my all time fav guitar live improv type thingys.  I've watched this so many times;

Huge loss.  I've lost track of the last few so will have to try and go back.

To still have been producing the music he was at 77 is a remarkable achievement, he has left an extraordinary catalogue of music for the fans.  Threw Goodnight LA on the turntable this evening and as always, very much looking forward to Magnum's new album this Friday although it will be a somewhat difficult listen for sure.

RIP Tony.

Thoughts for his family loved ones and the many Magnum fans out there.

Last night I've listened to "On A Storyteller's Night" in rememberance of Tony Clarkin and the band. Still one of my favorites.

The new one will probably arrive on friday and listening to it will be bittersweet, knowing it's their swan song.
