2. Disasterpeace

Disasterpeace is just an insanely talented, endlessly creative artist. Disasterpeace doesn't function only within the realm of chiptune, either. His catalogue includes several electronic soundtracks including a fair amount of music on the DS game Drawn to LIfe: The Next Chapter. Sometimes it seems like Disasterpeace simply does not have an "off" switch when it comes to making awesome chiptune.

Here's an album you should get RIGHT NOW

This one is free, but a good amount of his catalogue is not because he's SO GOOD THAT HE CAN EVEN CHARGE FOR HIS MUSIC

Alright ladies and other ladies, here is the moment we've all come so far to experience.

1. Alex Mauer

No man is keeping the spirit of chiptune alive more than he. Mauer composes memorable music from the idea that chiptune has a very special place outside of just danceable music. His compositions recall a time when you came home after school, booted up your game system, and hummed along to the music because it represented something more than just music. It represented an emotion. Fear, elation, anger, you name it, there was a composition for it.

You really can't go wrong with any of his albums, but I would recommend Antarctica to start with.

...but I just now saw that his site is down, so here's another album that's awesome, Vegavox II.

So hey, I figure this thread is as good a place to gauge interest for this is any.

I've been thinking about doing like a top 25 video game battle themes (battle theme could be any song that plays during combat, whether combat is segregated from normal gameplay or not, battle themes in fighting games, etc...). Would anyone be interested in that?

This. I dunno if I'll really listen to this genre that much but it was definitely cool to discover some of this, so the thread wasnt a total failure!

Chiptune isn't exactly the most popular genre here. This thread definitely had the merit of making some people checked out your fav chip artists.
