I Walk Beside You?

First of all, hello everyone! I have just joined but I am an admitted stalker, so, yeah  :lol
Anyway, I think I've been listening to DT since maybe March of this year. Not sure. I'm basing this off when I bought 'Forsaken' which was the second song of DT's that I bought (obviously Pull Me Under being the first).
Anyway I have just bought Octavarium and I love the whole album (especially The Root of all Evil) except for one little thing I noticed in I Walk Beside You: Could DT have possibly churned out a more radio-friendly song? I mean, it's catchy, short-ish, and it almost seems like sort of a love song to me ('Let me be the one who knows you best/Be the one to carry you when you feel like you're sinking')

Not meaning to cause a fight, just interested in what everyone else thinks :)

First of all, welcome to the forums.

Secondly, I LOVE I Walk Beside You. Such an underrated and uplifting tune. I love the overall vibe of the song.

I Walk Beside You is easily my least favorite song on Octavarium, but I don't hate it. At any rate, The Answer Lies Within is much better, but very few here share that opinion.

I like I Walk Beside You, though I rarely have the urge to listen to it, like most of Octavarium.  It's better than Panic Attack, Never Enough, and The Answer Lies Within at least, IMO.  Not sure if it has what it takes to have been a successful single, but who knows?

I never said I DIDN'T like it..
I just said it seemed like it would be blaring on radios, then attracting the wrong fans ('wrong' because they may not like metal).

I'd love for many songs to have radio versions just so they would be on the radio. I'm all for that for I Walk Beside You.  I really enjoy that song.

I saw IWBY twice live. It's so much better in concert than on the album. Surprisingly enough, it gets the crowd going and it works well in a live setting.

I Walk Beside You is a cool uplifting song, and I like it a lot.

Did you know they wrote that opening riff during the ToT sessions, but shelved it until 8VM because it didn't fit into the "feel" of ToT?

I read it last night in the new Voices UK magazine (MP interview).

I  :heart walk Beside you. I do come from a more Melodic Rock background though so maybe that's why. It's not very prog. It is very catchy and even my other 'alf likes it.
I'm not much of a fan of The Answer Lies Within. Not one of their better ballads for me.

I have no idea why its not on the radio. this song to me is about needing someone you always trust to help you through the toughest times in your life, to uplift you.
