New Material With The New Guys Auditioning?

I wonder if DT had any of the finalists (assuming they narrowed it down to a few first) write a drum part over some new riffs?  Playing MP's stuff note for note is amazing and wonderful, but can the guy add interesting flavor to new music?

If we are to believe the rumors, apparently 3 songs were rehearsed with the band.  You gotta think that they had to explore each drummers chops in a creative sense to???

I would hate to see a drummer knock out the MP stuff and then end up writing bland/unexciting parts in the new music.

I am excited about the new guy.  But also a little nervous too.

Considering how DT write, and the very nature of each of the players, I'd be shocked if they DIDN'T spend quite a bit of time jamming on whatever came to mind.
