Metallica 30th Anniversary Tour
« on: November 06, 2010, 08:21:40 PM »
I want this to happen more than ANYTHING next year.......

I made a 3 hour setlist of what it would look like, including something from every album to celebrate their discography. Put in the essential hits and some tunes that are rarely/never heard:

Enter Sandman
Sad But True
Holier Than Thou
The Unforgiven
Wherever I May Roam
Don't Tread On Me
Through The Never
Nothing Else Matters
Of Wolf And Man
The God That Failed
My Friend Of Misery
The Struggle Within
Intermission
Battery
Jump In The Fire
Until It Sleeps
The Unforgiven II
Stone Cold Crazy
Cyanide
Purify
Bleeding Me
The Unforgiven III
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Fade To Black
One
Fixxxer
The Call Of Ktulu
Encore
Blitzkrieg
Phantom Lord
Dyers Eve

Artwork by ThroughHerEyesDude6

.....Let me know what you guys think!!

Oh wait that's not real?

Oh. I dunno, I'd rather them get better. I'd prefer a well performed set of whatever, over a semi-ok set of TBA.

But a special 30th anniversary tour would be awesome.

Oh yea, what ever happened those few shows they were going to do with crazy stuff?

And awesome artwork dude!

It seems like they'd do Master Of Puppets in it's entirety.

Lars said he'll never play My Friend of Misery live without Jason.
Metallica will never play TBA live, they know that if they were to play an album in it's entirety to their fans; only RTL, MOP & AJFA will be of interest.
That second setlist is just nothing short of awful, selection and order wise.
Just all in all there's nothing that can express how lolwut this idea was, maybe if I had the link to the LOLWUT fruit it would have said it better.

Metty is such a nice guy. Did anyone realize that I put TBA because it will be the 20th anniversary of that album?

.....and Purify is in the set cuz its the shortest song on St. Anger, therefore, the least we'll have to hear from it.

....it's pretty good......ending with MoP, now that's interesting

And I forgot to mention, the 2nd set would change with every date, obviously.

73109 I like your setlist but it's over 2 and a half hours, it requires a different drummer and a singer who'd be 5 to 10 year younger and more in shape, Metallica's Death Magnetic tour setlists length has been fixed and steady since 2004, James said to Channel V in Holland that this is the exact amount of songs he can play now before he "runs out of breath".
It seems like I'm being Buzz Killington here but that wasn't my intention at all :lol

The way I look at it though, is while I understand the set is over 3 hours, when I say "break" I mean "a fucking break" Play for an hour and a half, take 45 minutes, and then come back for an hour and 45 minutes. I mean, let the concert start at 7 and end at 11. Also, if there are only 10 dates, I think they can pull off one of those a week. Just do 10 dates in 10 giant stadiums with that set. I actually think it would work.

So? They didn't play Kill 'Em All or Ride the Lightning or ...And Justice for All on their 20th anniversaries, they've only done it with MoP (the reasons for it being more than obvious), why should TBA be any different? Because it's their best selling album? Got a better reason?

I'm not trying to be a dick, but that doesn't seem like a good reason to jump to such a conclusion.

I can't imagine they would ever play all of TBA.  I imagine that even most fans who got into the band because of the big hits from that album would rather hear a more well-rounded set list, or all of MoP, than all of TBA.  Besides, I thought James Hetfield dislikes "Don't Tread on Me" a lot, which makes that one of those songs I can't imagine them ever playing (which sucks, since that song is aces).  And who in the world really wants to hear tripe like "Through the Never" or "Holier Than Thou"?

Because it's:

a landmark album
a GREAT album, IMO
a big point in their career

take your pick

The only landmark this album has is making a Metallica a mainstream band.

I think it's good, not great because it has a few song I just don't care for.

See my first sentence.

Hm. If I were to make a 30th anniversary setlist for the band...

1-12: The Black Album in it's entirety (featuring Jason on MFOM)
==intermission===
13. The Four Horsemen
14. For Whom The Bell Tolls
15. Orion
16. ...And Justice For All
17. Ain't My Bitch
18. Fixxxer
19. Frantic
20. All Nightmare Long
==encore===
21. One
22. Master Of Puppets
23. Seek & Destroy

Now, I don't think the Black Album is their best, but I mean, come on. It's still a good album, and obviously it did something right. There's some damn good music on there, any way you slice it.

If ANYTHING, they should play Ride the Lightning or AJFA, since they've already covered MoP.

To me it would like this:

The good ones:
1. And Justice For All
2. Master of Puppets
3. Ride the Lightning

The ok:
4. Kill Em All
5. Load

The pile of garbage:
6. Black Album
7. Death Magnetic
8. ReLoad
9. St.Anger

Your opinion, I have mine. I agree that Kill 'em All and Load are both criminally underrated. That said, I don't particularly care for Ride The Lightning, and would rate every album they did in the 90s above it.

St. Anger..... I've had random St. Anger songs come up on my playlist lately. They're actually quite entertaining :lol

They'll never play RtL because James absolutely hates Escape and I wouldn't want them to play AJFA because Lars can't play the drums.
