While I agree on the culture aspect, it's not like it's unheard of for heavy sounding music to have christian lyrics. Now, christian death/black metal would be pretty contradictory.

The Agonist is probably the only metalcore band that I truly enjoy...and Alissa is a big part of why.

I've been meaning to give PTH a chance though.

The Crusade isn't really a metalcore album at all, but yes Trivium > As I Lay Dying.

Also, I never really got into BTBAM. Maybe I should change that...

Metalcore is still meh for me. Too much post-hardcoreness over it. And on another note: deathcore is absolutely horrifying.

Jeez why does no-one like AILD? They have easily the best drummer and best guitarists (ignoring A.J. from THA). The Vocalist is one of the better clean singers in metalcore, and the growler is probably the best aside from Howard Jones (killswitch).

And Trivium better than AILD? No way. The Crusade is awful, their first album is throwaway, while their second and fourth have good on it, they don't match up to the latest two AILD albums by a long shot.

I remember liking one or two AILD songs, but not much more than that. Trivium only have two albums worth listening to, but I really like those two albums.

Adam from KSE being a better guitarist? I don't remember being blown away by any solos on their albums, and considering that he *produced* the two most recent AILD albums, and puts out KSE's worst album (the new self titled), well it doesn't really matter then. And okay I forgot Heafy.

Leach was great sure, but I'm talking current people - he burnt himself out. And Phil? Don't make me start, All That Remains have been a joke the past two albums.

You should listen to the two newest AILD albums if you haven't because they are light-years ahead than their old stuff.


On the subject of deathcore, I like a few black dahlia murder songs (vulgar picture, miasma) but that's it.


edit: and I disagree about them being better growlers actually - the AILD guy is the most diverse of any metalcore growler by far - the high screaming, the shouting and the low death, he's got it all covered (most notably in the 2010 album).

I'm always curious why they actually have 6 strings on their guitar. They only play one note throughout the entire song sooo....
