4. Pearl Jam- First off, Eddie Vedder is HAWT. His voice, his grungy look, his stage presence…
Anyway.
Pearl Jam’s first 3 albums are nearly perfect, with their first two, Ten and Vs. being flawless. ("Vitalogy" has
Foxymophandlemama and
Bugs, so…
) And then there’s "Yield" and "Binaural" and "Backspacer"…
Dis band got SOUL. Eddie’s crazy vocals in a totally different language (it took me a while, but now I speak Vedder fluently) go from soul-rocking screeches to chill crooning. I love the riffs, the utter raw, organic guitar sound…just thinking about it sends chills up my spine. (
Daughter is a perfect example of this. That intro…) This is another one of those band that I can listen to at almost any time: mad, sad, tired, energized…
Although half the time you can’t understand them, Pearl Jam’s lyrics are incredible. My favorite PJ song,
Garden, has lyrics that make me tear up nearly every time I listen to it. PJ’s lyrics mixed with the guitars’ desperation and vocals that aren’t of this world (I dunno how to describe his vocals, tbh...I tried earlier, but “screeches” and “crooning” doesn’t cut it. Listen to this song if you don’t understand.) make one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s almost supernatural.
Oh, and by the way--this band was entirely spoon-fed to me by Numbers—THANK YOU!
I can't promise anything, but I'll try to make the next ones more...punctual?
