Well since my library has around 600 aritsts in it....and no Rush (as it's long since been deleted), It's quite believable. I certainly don't hate them and I respect their careers. I just don't like the music. At all.

Thats a pretty good start, actually, just listen to AFTK (my second favorite) and 2112 more.  Then get Permanent Waves.  If you feel like venturing into the heavy synth era, then get Power Windows.  If you want some more modern hard rock, then go for Counterparts.  If you like the prog/70s hard rock side, keep listening to Fly By Night and/or get Hemispheres.

Listen to Rush more. They definitely aren't the easiest band to get into, but once you do.... you'll never be the same.

Top recommendations: A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, and Permanent Waves. After that head into the 80s era.

I guess I'm part of the small portion of people that liked Rush as soon as I heard them? I only have Caravan - Single, but I'm very familiar with their radio songs and a couple other deeper cuts. I've never not enjoyed listening to them, even before I knew the name of the band! Actually I remember I was in the car with my dad one day and "Working Man" was on the radio, and I asked him: "Why is a girl saying that she's the working man?", and I was being completely serious. He laughed and said it was Rush.

5. Pink Floyd- How is it possible that Pink Floyd can be so eloquent and beautiful and crazy and heart-wrenching and scary all at the same time? I still cry while listening to "Wish You Were Here", especailly Shine on You Crazy Diamond.

From "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" to "Meddle" to "Animals" to "The Wall", this band has never failed.

David Gilmour is definitely one of my favorite guitarists of all time; his guitar weeps and screams and sobs and laughs...what he does hits parts of me that are rarely reached when it comes to music.

Syd Barrett and Roger Waters are both slightly insane (okay, it bit more than "slightly" in Mr. Barrett's case), which is perfect for the band's music. Even if you aren't a Floyd fan, you've most likely heard some of "The Dark Side of the Moon" or "The Wall"--and you should get what I mean. Their vocals send static down your spine and you fell electricity in your sockets (LOLWOW didn't realize the pun until I typed it)...okay, now I sound insane. But it's true.

Oh, and by the way: I've never smoked weed in my life, and I still love the music just as much as any pothead.

They were my favorite band until DT showed up.  PF remained my favorite band after I found DT, but DT led me to Rush and PT, and now I barely listen to Floyd anymore.  I did listen to "The Division Bell" recently and its a great, overlooked album.  I still hold that WYWH is the greatest album ever, tied with Moving Pictures and Lightbulbu Sun.

Pink Floyd would be in the top of the list for a good majority of music fans, not just stoners.  It is because they are that good.

They are my number three right now, but they've got a hold on my favorite album: The Wall.  And no, I didn't pick The Wall just because it's Portnoy's favorite.  It was my favorite even before I learned that fact.

I'm more of a Waters-era Floyd fan.  Love WYWH, Meddle, and Animals.  Not really a big fan of DSOTM, however....it just never really clicked with me.  In fact, it's the least favorite album I've heard from PF.  I really wish DT covered a different album.

While I agree that DSOTM is overrated and that those two are better. I think they deserved much of the praise they receive.
