Okay to get back on topic:
6. Porcupine Tree- I had my first taste of this band just a few months ago, and look at where they are in my favorites! That fateful day that I listened to “Deadwing” all the way through was one of the more glorious days of my teenage life.
I don’t care what anyone says; you can always find
something you’ll like in this band’s discography, no matter who you are. I’m sure of that. The fact that Steven Wilson can just keep on whipping out not only amazing songs but amazing albums astounds me.
Porcupine Tree’s strong points, I think, are the amazing musicality and technicality of their compositions. Many of their songs are full of one incredible riff after another, and they flow effortlessly into each other. I also love the certain eeriness many of their songs contain—and then it’s “OH HELLO AWESOME MIND-BOGGLING RIFF” and back to the mystical fingerpicking and Steven Wilson’s whispery voice. (Listen to
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here and you’ll get exactly what I mean.)
Thank you so much letters, Sigz, and anyone else that guided my into the loving hands of Porcupine Tree—I honestly cannot get enough!
