Maybe. I mean, my GODS, this thread is at well over a hundred pages and has basically degenerated into "my choice for the drummer is better then yooooouuuurrrrrs

". We have already discussed all the likely candidates, so unless DT somehow manages to get some amazing drummer from some very unlikely source; like Yoshiki from X Japan, or someone else of comparable talent, but equally improbable for a variety of reasons; I think we have said all that can be said on this topic until the actual announcement is made.

I don't think they should announce it soon, interest is at an all time low. It will spike up again a few months before the album comes out, they should announce it then.

Wow, Yoshiki, thats a name I didn't expect to come up here... mind = blown

I doubt Jordan would be happy about that choice, he would have competition on the piano now

Theres still a 0.01% chance of that happening though...

It would be a real surprise, but Yoshiki is perfectly happy with X Japan; also, they're having a new album coming out in summer, so Yoshiki in DT is impossible.

Of course, but just the thought of that was amusing to me

But its likely Minneman can be ruled out anyways.

Edit: They have already said false things in the past, like announcing the drummer as Minneman and then saying oh its not Minneman a week later. By no means do they know what they are talking about.

That's not even the issue really, people have been posting things from Blabbermouth a lot. It's more the fact that it's two months out of date. At least post some new speculation!

Yeah, I threw him out there as an example of a drummer who could hang with DT musically, but with no chance in hell of joining (although the thought of Yoshiki in DT gives me goosebumps). Of the likely candidates, I would prefer Morgensten, although Mangini, Minneman or Virgil D would all be more then adequate. There are some other drummers that DT knows who would be up to it, like Jason Rullo of Symphony X, but I would much rather DT not poach a drummer from another band I love so much (another reason why it is probably for the best that Yoshiki is not even a possibility, what with X Japan having a bit of a comeback recently).

Still wouldn't be shocked if it's a computer. Surprised a little, maybe, but look at what JR has done with his apps. Just imagine if he had a whole really good computer worth of processing power.

Dream Theater is far too traditional a band to use drum samples for an entire album, willingly (such as Meshuggah on Catch-33).
