Apparently Mike Mangini is the most probable option at this point. I still hope the new drummer is Minnemann. Or Lang.

Yeah, human nature. I just like their skills more than Mangini's. I don't think that Minnemann is an impossible option, though, just very unlikely at this point.

Why do you say those are impossible? The fact that both are recording with another band right now doesn't mean they won't be joining DT in the studio later. As far as I've been reading here they have not been confirmed as permanent members of those bands. It's also possible I missed a post...

It almost has to be Mike Mangini.  Every other famous drummer has been confirmed in an interview or through credible word of mouth that they either didn't audition or didn't get the job.  Mangini's recording with another band, but they haven't announced he's been permanently hired.  This also squares with him not being in the studio with the band.  When one of his students asked about whether he got the Dream Theater gig, he didn't answer and tensed up.

I don't see what else it can logically be.

not true. the guy that gets my vote has only been mentioned in this thread a few times, is NOT in the poll, and HAS been confirmed by a source to have tried out. that's all i'm sayin on it...

Hey everyone,

I have a speculation on who the new drummer is, he has been mentioned somewhere in this Universe or the next. I am not going to post it here though.

Of course we will. We can talk about how we will hit 100 pages for another page or two.

Seriously, though, I doubt we'll be told before April, at this rate. If they haven't told us already, they're likely going to wait until they are done writing and/or recording the album, as they've been in the studio for over 6 weeks (in some capacity).

That's what I'm thinking as well. If (and that's a very big if) things regarding the drummer are going faster than expected, we might get to know it even before it. Judging from what JLB said, DT want to announce it just as badly as the general fanbase wants it to know (well, maybe DT's longing has taken the lead now). But I'm not counting on an announcement before April/May.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

i didn't say i know who the new drummer is. i said the guy that gets my vote has not been ruled out and is not in the poll. my post was in response to ReaPsTA's claim that all possible drummers other than Mangini have been ruled out. i argue that and one source that's already been named in this thread backs that up. how is that against any rules?

again, my point was simply to re-butt ReaPsTA's claim that all possibilities other than Mangini have been spoken for.
