Well, one thing's pretty clear.

If this is really the 'last week' in the Studio like Jordan says, the guys REALLY haven't managed to keep up with updating us the way Mike would have.  ::)

This is NOT the last week... as was said many times JR said he "had a busy last week" meaning last week, as in the week before this one... was busy.

At no point does he say "we are GOING to have a busy last week next week..."

And this is NOT 4 posts ago. I've been corrected 4 times already man. Chill.

I drove back home, threw my hat deep into the closet and fell asleep on my bed without knowing that Cove City Sound Studios is located at North Shore of Long Island which might make it the place that Mike Mangini meant when he said the following:

"Heading to up the North Shore this week for rec session #2 of 2011. I will update my sites w/info asap. My Books site will be down for a while."
Wait, when/where did he say this?

I was wondering where this quote came from too.  Does Mike Mangini have a Twitter account?

what's this "north shore" place? isn't DT recording on long island? i've never been there. are there shores on long island?

Quite possibly.

-Marc.
Well, he could be cryptic and maybe he's talking about the north shore of LI, but The North Shore generally refers to the coastal towns and cities north of Boston. I'm from The South Shore.

This was all discussed almost a month ago...
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

It was here https://mikemangini.com/news.htm , but it looks like he changed it/or deleted it. to JAN 13: In the Midst of recording tracks for Groove Rock band Graphite at their studio in N. Mass.

"North Shore" means north of Boston as others pointed out. For example I live in the "South Shore" which is south of Boston.

Well...somebody will need to lay down drum tracks pretty quick so...

And if all things in the universe align in such a way that the new drummer is kept secret, we will know on July 24th when someone
climbs behind the kit at High Voltage.

How crazy would it be if they didn't announce it until their first show? It would be odd to do it at a festival where not everyone was a DT fan though.

or get an actor to speak for him like Peter Criss (who probably shouldn't be mentioned in a thread about the new drummer).

:( Way to shoot down my hopes, dude.

I remember reading in a biography that on the recording of Destroyer, Bob Ezrin asked Peter Criss to play in half-time but he didn't know how to. :lol

In one of Gene Simmons' books, Gene stated that Peter didn't know any music terminology at all. Not even time signatures. He played entirely by feel.

Now this could be something of nothing but thought i'd post it here;

Published on: February 10th, 2011
Progressive Jazz Fusion artist Anders Helmerson has released the title track, "Triple Ripple"
According to Anders....
"Triple Ripple" is a demonstration of the world's most spectacular drummer Marco Minneman and his ability to make it all sounds easy and fluent. But the fact is, what he is doing here, nobody else could do. Marco was recently touted to be the natural replacement for Mike Portnoy in Dream Theatre, but I am keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that he'll choose to stay with me."

Here's the link
https://www.theopenpress.com/index.php?a=press&id=95821

The interesting part is "I am keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that he'll choose to stay with me." - does that mean that Marco has been offered the job ??!!

I'm gonna laugh if Jordan Rudess updates his facebook with "And the new drummer is.......in the studio with us."

Because you'll think he's announcing the name, AND it could be taken either way as to whether he has been there the whole time or not.

I'd laugh SO hard if they didn't announce the drummer all the way up until the first show.... then.... when they come out onstage and everyone thinks they're FINALLY going to see who the new drummer is....

HE'S OFFSTAGE!

hahahahhahahaa

"Um..... sorry guys, this still isn't, um, the right time to announce the new drummer..... so we're going to keep him offstage.  We'll tell you real soon!  Maybe next tour, in fact!"  :lol

I asked James on fb, if there was a possibility that we have to wait for the tour/album to get the announcement, he replied:

"That's a little too long. You won't have to wait that long. Take care."
