It's Marco, but it's from the Mind Meld session, not DT in the studio.

almost 100% certain. I think there was an interview with him where he said he was not asked to audition, and was flattered that people think that he should have.

After watching the new JR interview, now I'm back to thinking it's Marco. Sure hope so, but of course not getting my hopes up. I sure don't trust blabbermouth though, especially since they didn't mention any source of info.

I really really hope not, but it kind of makes sense since they need a vocalist who can make MP's tough guy voices that he's littered randomly throughout all the songs like some dark legacy they'll never be rid of now.

By a DT member, yes. Virgil Donati said he auditioned and wasn't picked, and Hef knows one of Lang's students who said he auditioned, so that's three confirmed members to have auditioned. As for who's been permanently ruled out, Mark Zonder and Charlie Zeleny said they didn't audition. Don't know if anyone else has said that.

I really don't think that means anything...........In scandinavia we say, det hadde vært moro/ skøy ( skøy in swedish, moro in norwegian), translated, that would have been cool. Means more like I would really like that.

But that is how I read it. Like always I could be wrong.

Just changed my vote for the first time...from Mangini to Minneman. After Jordan's interview I really think it's Marco now, but hey that's just me. Just an opinion. There's plenty of speculation to go around.

For me Minnemann was already out when they announced this bandcrashers thing! I can't see Jordan doing a jam with the chosen guy before they make an official announcement. Doesn't make sense to me.
I can see why a guy like Lang would fit better into DT although I don't think it's him either.

I think thats much more plausible than Marco being the guy, than Jordan talking so openly about how he love Marcos playing and that he auditioned, when this whole DT-drummer-thing is such a big secret.

It was hardly testing him out live as there seemed to be half a dozen people milling about, no audience. It would have been similar to the audition really.
I favour the "he didn't get the gig but Jordan wanted to play with him" camp. He would be a great DT drummer though.

This is what I thought as soon as I heard about the Musical Mind Meld gig. On the other hand, it could have also been like a form of bonding activity. Who knows?

I still hope it's minnemann. I won't be too dissapointed if it isn't him, or at least I have accepted that it may not be him, but I don't think he has been completely written off until Minnemann or DT say so. The statement from the band member Minnemann is supposed to be playing with is not entirely valid simply because I think Minnemann, or whoever the selected drummer is, has an obligation to not tell a soul about it until he is
authorized to do so.
Unless he is touring with this band as well as recording, then I would definitely not rule him out entirely.

I have noticed that Jordan does like to talk him up a bit too. For instance, during Jordans break in the band crashers thing, he was posting how amazing he was and mentioned his ability to do blast beats. I know it is in Jordans nature to talk up other musicians, but it was almost like he was trying to sell him to the audience, beyond just saying it was a pleasure or simply that they are great to play with.

And why Minnemann for that particular gig? relaxing the notion that the other drummers may have had other stuff going on, why was Jordan so keen to play with him over the others? perhaps there is a chance that Jordan's vote was for Minnemann, but the rest of the guys did not agree. And as Jordan said in his most recent interview (or something along these lines): "we really see eye to eye on alot of things [musically]". So would DT pick a drummer that wouldn't strike the same chemistry than one that would do with an integral song writer of the band?

I don't think Jordan would mention that Marco auditioned if he was the new drummer. Marco also has those other projects, so I'm very sure that he's not the one.

Possibility. Minnemann was selected, but he had prior commitments. They obviously couldn't outright ask him to jump ship for them, but they could make him want to. Having him play for Mind Meld might have been Jordans way of kind of courting him. Like Portnoy and Petrucci did with LTE to try to get Rudess.

A touch farfetched, but it's a thought.
