I was thinking the other other day we have two of Steve Vais' former drummers has anyone named Jeremy Colson?

I just searched faceboojk and saw DT was top of his musical likes.....is anyone a friend of his who can credit, discredit this theory?

Sorry if he has been discounted before, I can't read back over 79 pages.....

My two faves are out by the looks of things, unless Lang's comment was a cryptic message that Dan Monti was DT's new engineer, especially when I saw who he'd worked with.

As a mater of fact, and I already wrote it, we DO NOT know who auditioned. I don't even see where the Priester rumour comes from because he wasn't even in the list Stevetheater gave (provided it is valid) and that had only FIVE names.

There seems to have been a lull in the action, so maybe it is a good time to post.
I would like to thank all you expert newsgroup members for the insight this thread has given me over the past couple months. DT is one of my favorites, and I don’t expect that to change with a new drummer. I have confidence an appropriate drummer will be chosen.
I figured I would let you all stalk the social networking sites for all “our” candidates to get updates so I don’t have to ( I don’t have a twitter or facebook account anyway). This doesn’t make me any better than you all, I still spend all day watching this thread. So thanks again for that…

With all that out of the way, if I look back at my thoughts regarding Mike's departure...

After picking my jaw up off the floor following the announcement, my first thought was probably similar to others. DT will never be the same. As I completed my stages grief, and thought about the current drum community, I found confidence that there were plenty of drummers out there that could play as well as Mike. With that being said, what made Mike…Mike were 2 things. From a drumming perspective, his ability to choreograph what is “DT music” (even if it got a bit predictable recently), and secondly, and what I felt is much more important to what he did with the band, his work with the fans. I doubt very much that we will ever get what we got from DT before, ever again.

I have more thoughts, but don't want to ramble. More to come later

Unless the drummer is not in the studio with DT right now because of current commitments. Which then only rules out Mangini. Well, and of course Priester, because he was never really an option.

My first instinct, even before I saw this thread was Thomas Lang. I have always been impressed with his style in St0rk.When I found this thread and started reading; I opened myself to other options, and ultimately voted for Marco. I had heard of him, but had not listened for quite a while. His technical ability and work leads me to believe his style would match what DT needs. I will not change my vote, as this, for me, was not about my favorite drummer, or a progression of guesses as we hear more and more rumors, but who I thought would fit. Mangini is a fine choice, and could play the music, but I am with others that are concerned about what “new” he would bring to the table, and how it would fit. Another one I had never heard of is Charlie Zelaney. He is pretty sick and Blotted Science has proved to me he would certainly qualify, even though it was suggested he is not a candidate.
As a drummer, my favorites on this list are Virgil Donati (not appropriate style), Mark Zonder(he could do it), Gavin Harrison(like him just where he is), and Dave Weckl(not appropriate style). With nods to Nick D’Virgilio, Bobby Jarzombek, and Rod Morgenstein.
