I've been thinking that too.  But in the past, DT has been picky about not letting new members influence the songwriting process too much.  Maybe the drummer just isn't in the studio yet.

What do you mean?  The only real new members in the modern DT era have been DS and JR, and both contributed significantly to the songwriting as soon as they joined.

Yeah, but we don't know THE list : who are the 7 drummers who auditioned? Even Stevetheater's list included only 5 drummers : if it is valid, who are the other 2? And we don't even know if the list was accurate. So, it might be anyone for all I know.

It is well known that Daney Carey and Tool are recording a new album, plus they have been touring as of late, they just did a few shows in Hawaii at the beginning of the month. I also think it is someone not mentioned. I have my own hopeful, I doubt it but I would love to see it.
