It hasn't taken "so long."  This is pretty normal.  It's just that you have people posting about it every day on the Internet instead of just not thinking about it and focusing on other things in your life.

I guess this is true, however some bands have replaced members much quicker. However, this is one of Dream Theater's biggest decisions, so I guess they would want to take their time.

OR, OR, Kevin Moore's audition was so mindblowing, it's taking longer than expected for DT to bounce back to normal life.

Leaks happen and when certain leaks happen consistantly like in the case of Marco it starts to make you wonder how many people out there have the same friend who thinks he's an authority. So my vote is on Marco given the rumor of him has gone from weak to strong in a matter of days.

What leaks? There were a couple of outright rumours and that was it as far I know.

My vote is still for Thomas Lang, he is my first choice both on technical skills and potential to bring DT to the next level, however Marco is also an excellent choice he is my second favorite . I think both of these guys would bring a lot of much needed creativity to the band.

My theory is that Lang is the chosen one and Marco was the runner up, and since the was a great chemistry between them Jordan invited Marco to the Mind Meld Jam Sessions.

While I would prefer Lang, there's really no evidence that he even auditioned. But the Marco part makes sense.

Yeah, that's the sense I get from Marco playing with JR at the Mind Meld, that maybe JR and Marco in particular clicked, but he ended up not being the one. Plus, even though the new drummer hasn't been announced, the Mind Meld took place after the decision was made, and to me it just makes more sense that the guys would want to present a new member to the fans with the whole band playing.
