Jordan's Tweet:

"Looking forward to being surrounded by keyboards and jammin with drummer Marco Minnemann and Daniel J on december 15th. www.bandcrashers.com"

Can the name of the drummer be a hint at all?

God I hope he is. But in relation to this twitter post, I would say what most likely happened was that Marco was informed that he did not get the position, but insisted on keeping in touch for the sake of future side projects i.e. this Jam. Although I've said it before: the way that Jordan and Minnemann think about music, in particular the choice of time signatures they tend to use, are very similar, and they would gel together really well. Who knows...

The guys have gone out of their way to be pretty secretive about this whole drummer thing, so I highly doubt Jordan would drop the selectee's name like that in a tweet before the official announcement. Also, to think that it's narrowed down to Mangini or Minneman (sp?) is also useless, as there are plenty of candidates other than two of the more well known progressive drummers. What evidence is there pointing to either one, other than a few other drummers being weeded out, and Jordan's probably over analyzed tweet?

I was the same way once.  My first thread was a horrible attempt to copy RobWebster's genius "DT misheard" video with "Constant Motion," where I actually had no idea what they were saying  :lol.  It gets better, just takes time, maturity, and good posts.
I had a genius "DT misheard" video?

We know nothing of the sort. All that's been said has been pretty much only speculation. Only the DT guys know.

Mangini's clearly the frontrunner.  Rumbo's post about him cancelling his Berkelee classes is the only piece of real evidence we've seen pointing to any conclusion.  And it's pretty convincing.

Anyone who wants Mangini over Marco Minneman is delusional.   Marco's playing is way more musical and perfect for DT.   I think he is more talented than Mangini as well.

Why does the new drummer have to be the sickest drummer in the world? That's not what it should be about, the most important question is does whoever he is fit?

He doesn't have to be, but there's no reason that a person couldn't be both.

If you go to the link, one of Mike Mangini's students says on FB that he had his last lesson with Mike for a while, as he's going to "busy" from now on.  Apparently Mike also gets mad every time the kid brings up the DT possibility, making it more likely in his opinion.

Seems like a reasonable conclusion to me.

But maybe it's just that MiMa gets fed up with all these assumptions of him being the new DT drummer. Whether he has ended up being it or not does't hold any relevance there imo.
