Is there any particular reason why Thomas Lang is the highest voted? I think I only picked him because he seemed the most skilled, and had added the guys on Twitter.

Those two things, plus he made STEVETHEATER's list.

Ah yeah. I still hope he gets it, but I've been second guessing it a bit. Seeing him advertising so much for st0rk on his twitter... I guess even if he was picked, he probably wouldn't drop the st0rk stuff immediately.

That's kinda half the fun. Seeing how far wrong we were.

It's a mishmash of hopes and rumours and "that sounds about right" - with just a dash of statistical probability involved. Made the poll 'cause I thought it'd be nice to see how far right or wrong the board gets it.

Quite like how far Zeleny's slipped back.

Lang definitely knows what it takes to be a band member. Hearing this kind of sensibility must be really appealing in an interview situation.

Hell, if they go with Lang, they won't even have to have the crew lug a drum kit around;

Wow.  I had seen a lot of videos of him playing recently, but I have even more respect for him after listening to that one (and some of the others that are linked that also appear to have been from that session).

That would be acceptable.  Like the Allman Brothers Band.

He is quite a skilled guy, and he knows what he's talking about, but I totally see where people say he comes off as kind of arrogant.  "I can play paradiddles with my feet."

DT needs someone humble, just like the rest of them.

Well, he IS a very talented drummer. I think he is just confident by mentionning it. A bit like Jordan if you ask me.

This. I don't think he seems too arrogant for DT at all. I got a really good impression of the guy through that 'interview', and I think he would fit right in. :)

I'd prefer a mostly acoustic set. But some electronic drums with it would be awesome.

Yeah, for example the way Danny Carrey use his Mandala pads. That's pretty cool IMO...

I didn't think that comment was arrogant at all in the context of what he was saying.  He was basically saying that it doesn't matter how good you are, the only way to succeed is to have the right connections.

yeah I certainly didn't get an arrogant feeling from him in the interview. Seems very level headed actually.
I'm wanting this guy as drummer so much I need to take a step back in case it's not him. I sooo don't want to be disappointed when I find out who it is.

Maybe, but I couldn't think of a scenario where it would be appropriate for Dream Theater. Either way, his comments about how they are the future of drumming rather terrify me, the day that electric drums replace acoustic sets is the day I go outside and hang myself.

I can't help but be rather unimpressed by his technique, I mean it's certainly great, but anything longer than 2 minutes of it and I've already clocked out.

It's not that it was a spelling mistake.  It's that Berkeley and Berklee are two completely different schools on opposite sides of the country.
Dude, you just taught me something because I didn't know that! :lol

So which is the one in California?

U.C. Berkeley (aka "Cal.," "Berkeley") is in Berkeley, California (where Lonestar's restaurant is).

Berklee School of Music is in Boston.  (there is another Berklee School of Music in the San Diego area as well; not sure if it is a different school or a satellite campus)
:tup The more you know! Thanks, bösk1

Yeah. But that's natural when watching drum solos, no matter how good they are
