Hey lovers,

Figured I'd get my thread started since DTVT started his. I'm planning on running mine more casually -- I'm not concerned so much with the actual competition as I am with talking about the songs you guys send me. I'll do some themed rounds and some open rounds as well. Scoring will work similar to the previous roulettes.

So, what do I like? I tend to think I'm very open-minded -- I try not to rule anything out. What I'm not really a fan of is "prog." Let's not get into this debate here, but I prefer actual progressive music as opposed to the genre. I'm not the biggest metalhead around, either, but I do appreciate heavy music. Growls are a bit hit-or-miss for me.

What I really love more than anything are great vocal harmonies and concise and emotional songwriting.

That being said -- Send me anything. This game is about expanding my knowledge, not reinforcing my pre-conceived notions of what I think makes good and bad music. I won't promise to love it all but I'll give it equal weight, so don't be afraid to take chances. It'll be more fun that way.

It's a round-based music game. I pick a category for each round and you guys PM me a link to a song. I rate them from favorite to least-favorite and talk about what I liked and didn't like about them, and then we talk about it / I start the next round with a new category. Person with the most points at the end "wins."

Send me a cover song. A link to the original would be appreciated as well. I've always loved hearing different artists' interpretations of classic (or not-so-classic) songs, especially when they manage to add extra layers of depth, meaning, and/or emotion. GO!

I'll set a soft deadline of tomorrow at midnight. The earlier you send it, the more I can listen to it.

Yeah, it's a legit/legal link (official youtube ones, youtube live vids, Grooveshark, etc) it'd be cool to have them all posted. If people can't find them then they can feel free to PM you whatever they can find, but I'd ask you not to post the links here.

Wish I could have joined in, I think I would be able to offer some good suggestions (based on your last.fm).

I will be following this anyway. 73020234 doesn't listen to anything remotely to what I like, so I stopped following that. I think this one has some potential to help me as well.
