Aw, congrats! That's really exciting!!!     He sounds healthy, that's a good weight.  :P

Sleep immediately, since very shortly you won't be able to again. Also, enjoy having everyone offer to watch/hold him since that wears off after a few months.  :lol

And awesome, AWESOME name choice.  :metal   (no one's gonna get that, but I personally love that name)

Really happy for you.  :tup

Congrats man!  Enjoy the diapers, constant clothes-buying, college saving, and all the emotional trauma and brutality that goes along with having a child!  It'll all be worth it someday!

All this time I thought this thread was about a famous person I've never heard of.

That's no little man - an ounce shy of 8 pounds! Yikes! Speedy healing to MB and big congrats to you. I hope this next phase of your life finds you up for the challenges of fatherhood. May the next 18 years find you full of endless patience and especially joy.

Ok, update:

Everything was wonderful through mid-Monday but unfortunately, Eric developed an intermittently rapid breathing pattern. That, paired with his lack of urination since birth, led the nurses to put him in the nursery instead of in the maternity suite with us. They weren't too worried yet because everything else with him was fine and he wasn't in any other respiratory distress. However, Tuesday morning, his breathing and kidney function had not improved and he was transferred to the NICU. We were sent home without him. To say it felt like being punched in the gut is an absolute understatement.

It is now Thursday evening and all of Eric's conditions have improved and are stable. All chest xrays were clear, a lumbar punture was clear, blood cultures were negative, he is finally peeing on a regular basis and his breathing is normal. With a little more good fortune, we hope to be able to bring him home for the first time tomorrow.

We've completely been through the ringer, from labor and delivery to the release and joy of seeing our son to the dejection and worry of seeing him to taken off to the NICU....we barely know which way is up.

Thanks everyone for the positive wishes. I hope the little guy comes home tomorrow. Here's a photo for your enjoyment:

Wow...sorry to hear that things have been so rough on the little guy (and the two of you) the past couple of days.  I'm really glad to hear that he's leveling out and everything is starting to go as normal.

I'm sure all will be fine, but I'll be keeping the three of you in my thoughts.
