to each their own, but I see where you are coming from.  My gf listened to some Tarja and she said the same thing that her voice is great but seems out of place with the music.  I personally don't feel that way with the WT song, but I can agree on some of the Tarja solo material so it makes sense that you feel that way.

Tarja is hit and miss for me.
While she is my favourite female singer, her recent solo rock album and EP were terrible.
Her last classical album I loved, even the festive season songs were beautifully done.
She was great with Nightwish as she had quality songs to sing.

I still remember a friend convinced me to go see WT when they toured The Silent Force. I didn't know the band at all, but that concert was a-ma-zing.

I've checked some of their studio albums and haven't been that impressed, but again. That concert. Wow. Still glad I went.

New Song, The Reckoning with a music video.

I'd say "Meh."

I dig it quite a lot actually. Really solid pop metal tune. Enjoy it more than anything off the last album from what I remember.

I like it, not my type of song but the hooks are effective for me.

It sounds so pop-ish especially with guest vocalist.

I didn't like Hydra and this song sounds like Hydra type but I hope the rest will be good.

Wow, the west is uncharacteristically getting the lion's share of this short little tour.  4 west coast dates, plus Vancouver, SLC, and Denver.  That's almost half the tour right there.

Los Angeles at the Wiltern on a Tuesday?  Maybe.  If they are pricing it like DT did for their Wiltern shows, I shall pass.  If it is around $50-60 total for a floor seat, I might go.

SF is 37.50-50, according to AXS. Before all the extra fees, of course.

Not sure I understand the pairing of these two but In Flames is a fairly known band.  Smash Into Pieces while I never heard them, the singer was a replacement for Amaranthe for a couple tours and I wasn't a huge fan.  I'm thinking I'll check out In Flames though, my friends like them a lot but I've never been able to get into them.

Ha I didn't even see Smash Into Pieces on that promo.

After spending 20 seconds on YT I am curious to hear more.

 one of the new songs has the singer of In Flames as a guest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QdgoBYUHBU so I guess we will be getting this song live with both singers in NA.

First time listening, I don't love it.  Doesn't change my stance on seeing them live, but really not anticipating this album a whole lot.  I like the other single, The Reckoning a bit better maybe.

I just realized, at least 6 of their recent singles have had a guest singer. Is that right?

Seems a bit excessive.

Totally agree, and since the quality of the songs is going down IMO, it makes me feel like using guests is becoming forced.  Sharon is good enough that this band doesn't need all of their singles to have someone else with her also they can't all be played live with the guest singers so using the piped in vocals so much isn't as cool live.  When they played in NYC, there were so many songs with guests on the screen (and I expect that again although it seems likely we'll get one live one).  Give me more Sharon!

According to Wikipedia, it's 7. And while I realize I am not as tuned in to the music world as many other WT fans are, I have heard of 1 of those 7 singers.

Bloody hell.  The Blabbermouth presale code is not working for me to get tickets for their show at the Wiltern.

It stated that start time is Wed 12/12/18 10:00 am PST

It just worked for me. Three tickets, in the corner of the lower loge (San Fran) but front row, 189.90. Man this shit is expensive. Not Maiden expensive, but expensive.  :lol

We forced to use AXS up here, not sure about down south.

I'm using Ticketmaster and Live Nation.

The only presales they have right now is for Citi cardholders, Platinum tickets (whatever that means), and Ultimate Jesterhead Meet & Greet Experience (In Flames meet and greet) where you pay about $115.00 overall for a GA ticket and meet up with In Flames.

It's not a good look for Live Nation if the page states that they will be using the Blabbermouth presale codes and they haven't opened it at the proper time.

For NYC the tickets are through AXS which I hate.  It's all GA so I'll just wait.  Blabber code works for that sale.

All right, I don't think the Blabber code is going to work for the Wiltern show in LA.  I contacted the Ticketmaster Customer Support during my lunch break and they only see from their perspective the non-Blabbermouth presales being up.  I'll try again tomorrow with the Live Nation pre-sale.  Does anyone have the code for that?

Oh finally, the Blabbermouth Pre-Sale is now up for the Wiltern show.  Got me a ticket for GA.  It only costed me $50.75 fees included.  Holy cow.  That's such a steal if this show has some interesting production values.  In comparison to the $70 I spend for Maiden in the far back, but still have a center stage viewpoint, and the $95.00 I've spent for the Chris Cornell tribute show where I would be in the nosebleeds in the 200s, getting a GA ticket for $50.00 for a somewhat relatively known band is such a steal.  Not as big of a steal as paying $42.00 for a GA spot for Switchfoot, but I'll take what I can get.

I'm pumped!  I'm also glad I nabbed it now before the Live Nation presale is open in about five minutes.

Anyone here going to the Seattle show?

Have not bought tix, not sure if any still available. Funds are tight right now and those two opening acts are awful on my ears. I feel like I want to go more for the sake of saying I went more than any actual desire to do so.

Totally forgot this was released.

Some solid tunes but overall pretty weak. They went 100% into the Pop Metal direction. The Reckoning would be a great song if not for the Papa Roach guy. Endless War through Holy Ground are all good to great and the best part of the album. In Vain through Mad World I didn't like. The last two songs (Mercy Mirror & Trophy Hunter) are both pretty good.

Overall, the change in direction is not my thing. I find myself wondering why they still need two guitarists (there were I think 2 short solos and nothing but power chords on the whole album).

3/5
