New album is pretty good.  Never was much of a fan of these guys, but I'm enjoying it.

I guessing this might not be news for most but i'm really really diggin Grosskopf bass work on this release, there's lots of cool melodic lines here and there and also I just find the bassmix to be perfect atleast with headphones. You hear the bass so clearly but still not overpowering the overall mix. I'm not sure if that's common for the bass in Helloween?

Some examples:

Out for the glory 1:04-1:12
Fear of the fallen 2:09-2:15
Mass Pollution: 0:10-0:20
Angels: 2:25-2:30 and 4:15-4:20
Rise without chains: 0:36-0:49, 1:46-1:59 and 3:54-3:56
Skyfall: 2:16-2:20

Edit: Typo

Really nice cover of Eagle Fly Free. Michael Gilbert and Ken Mary from Flotsam & Jetsam are part of it.

I’m actually kinda glad Kai didn’t write more because that might’ve resulted in him having bigger vocal parts, and I’m not a big fan of his voice.

Angels IMO is the worst song on the album. Sascha is really hit or miss on the last few albums. His best songs were on Gambling, Rabbits, And Keepers Legacy. Nowadays he seems to be experimenting a lot, which isn’t a bad thing, but it’s just not resulting in good songs.

The best songs on the new album come from Weiki.

Random thought: Nabatea would slay with some vocals from Kiske. He can take the verses and the high chorus, Deris can do the harsher bits and the middle section.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

There’s a lot of songs I’d like to hear Kiske sing. As much as I prefer Deris’ voice, Weiki and co have definitely written songs that would be perfect for Kiske and would fit perfectly on a keepers record. Imagine Helloween recording Falling Higher or Salvation back in ‘88 with Kiske and putting it on Keepers.
When I first heard Out For The Glory I was breathtaken. Weiki’s songwriting and Kiske’s voice just work so gloriously together.

I agree and I don't think I'd say that about any Deris era album.

Golden Times is a pretty great song and I think the first vocal melody ("In my dreams The world would be") sounds great but I hate how every time it’s repeated (the vocal melody not the lyrics) it sounds kinda out of tune or something. Basically it only sounds great one time and I think that sucks. Just a random observation.

Hmmm...can't say I've noticed.

That's still by far my fav song on the whole thing.

Out of tune is probably not the right way to describe it, it just sounds slightly off to me.

Anyway I do think the song should have been on the album instead of Cyanide or Indestructible.

Hmm interesting observation, I think I know what you mean. Can't say it's out of tune but the notes on the words Be and Dreams sounds a bit cleaner the first time and the second time it kinda collides with the harmony or something. Kinda sounds like it's not the same notes as the first time but i'm not sure. Was that it?

So I may have linked The Charismatic Voice reaction video to Keeper Of The Seven keys a few months ago. Not checking, but here's the link..

This is the same lady who did the most recent JLB interview posted on the DT Side.

Well, she just released a reaction to Halloween. It's really awesome!

I'm subscribed to the Charismatic Voice!

Her "reaction" videos are cut above the rest! I love how she is able to analyze the song and the singer.

I'm still listening to the self titled album a lot! Could be a contender for my album of the year.

I've spent a lot of time over the last month listening to the new Maiden and DT. I have actually spun the Helloween a couple of times in the past week, and I still love it.

So, Helloween finally begins their tour this week..

Wed May 4  Manchester
Thurs May 5   London

And then 6+weeks later in Europe. Can't wait to see the setlist. When the album was released, I watched a ton of interviews, and I got the feeling they were going to dust off Twilight Of The Gods.

Any of our English DTFers going?

They have so much stuff they could play it always feels songs and opportunities are left out, but it can't be helped..  Will be interesting what they choose.  Need more deep cuts from BTR/TDR/Rabbit.

I would love a version of The King Of 1000 Years with Kiske on it, or even Occasion Avenue.

They have Hammerfall opening, so their shows won't be anywhere near the length of the Pumpkins United show. When I saw them...it was just them.

Great opening band though, that's a great bill.  Yeah, decent call on those two epics though,  They've done the old ones and these two have always held up to them IMO.

Well, that was the norm for the Legacy tour back in 2005.

And yes, that's one of the songs that should be played, character wise the entire lyrics are from the point of view of the devil so it would feel weird to swap singers, but hey, Kiske would slay that chorus!!!

I'm going to make a bold prediction, and say that "Open Your Life" will be played live in the coming tour! Sascha has been featuring that song a lot in his Instagram stories! :tup

Some other deep cuts, I would like them to dust of include:
King for a 1000 Years (Obviously)
Midnight Sun
A Handful of Pain
Twilight of the Gods
Invisible Man
The Departed (Sun is Going Down)

Can't believe the Finland show is still a year away! It was supposed to be in spring 2020, if I remember correctly.
