I'm surprised Power is so high, but I guess I shouldn't be with you love for the old stuff.  Dreambound I never understood the hype about, but I'll go back and revisit a lot of these.

I have no issue with Hey Lord being top 5 truthfully.  The Keeper epics and just that, epic.

TAC

Power has always clicked with me. It's so simple and easy on the ears. It's the one song that I was the most familiar with going into this.

Helloween are masters of songs like Paint A New World, Dreambound, and Kings Will Be Kings. It's Power Metal, but you can tell it's a notch above the rest. There's a soul and depth to what they do.

Yeah, that's awesome, and as soon as you think you have a Top 25, lay it on us here. I would love to read it.

I definitely will mate.

The Walrus

That makes me really happy seeing Dreambound and Gambling so high. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

Yeah, I know you like Gambling. It's a great album.

The Walrus

Man, honestly, I was never big on Helloween getting into power metal. It was only about 10 years ago I finally gave the Deris era another try and something about it just worked. Gambling was what finally broke me off of Walls of Jericho being my favorite weener album  :lol

TAC

Helloween didn't "get into" Power Metal. They defined it.

I got Walls Of Jericho in 1987 and have always loved it.

What? I know that. I was saying when *I* was getting into power metal, I didn't get the hype.  :lol

80% of your Top 50 is wiped out without Helloween.

No it's not, half their discography blows!  :lol

Gambling was initially on the list. Had to bump it sadly.

I'm not trolling, and I like Helloween!!  :lol

Evermind

I like Gambling and Keeper Legacy, but I just don't get Occasion Avenue at all. I think the song blows. Listened to it again in case I was missing something, nope, still blows.

Other than that, the list was nice though. I want to revisit some of those records now.

Tim copping lots of "blows" in this thread - I like it  :lol

I think what Katte meant was

not

Idk if you knew that & were just joking around or you were actually confused TAC, but I thought I'd clarify that anyway.

TAC

At first I was confused, but after I think I understood.

It's all good. And Helloween conversation is good conversation. That's what I was hoping for. A little "blow"back here and there.

The Walrus

Yeah it would be odd if I didn't like Helloween playing power metal considering The Saints is one of the best power metal anthems ever written  :lol

wolfking

I'm going to go through and do some listening to all the albums before making a top 25.  This is just going to be so difficult.  Even being a fan of this era since Rabbit and listening to most of these albums frequently enough over the years, getting 25 songs just seems an impossible.  There is too much quality.

wolfking

Master of the Rings.  This is way better than I remember it to be honest.  Picks to move on to the next round;

Sole Survivor
Where the Rain Grows
Why?
Perfect Gentleman
Secret Alibi
Still We Go

Yeah, half the album, I know.  When it comes to 25, I don't see many of these making it. Secret Alibi is a damn underrated tune from the band.

TAC

Secret Alibi is a nice second tier song.  Nothing to dislike about it.

I found Master Of The Rings really hard to latch onto. Always have.

Last night, I spent the night going down the Helloween rabbit hole on Youtube. I watched a Kiske interview where he mentioned that Roland Grapow was asked to participate in the Pumpkins United tour but he declined.

It's good to see this going forward, Kade, I'll follow your posts too and will be listening along. Maybe I'll actually do one of those Top 25s after you.

Yeah Ruslan, that would be awesome to follow.

Mladen

I'm sorry I didn't get to chime in earlier, but that is one amazing list, TAC. It's always great to see appreciation for Occasion avenue, it's also one of my absolute favorites.

As far as albums go, I would probably rotate Master of the rings and The Legacy. The rest would be sort of similar.  ;D

Following, Kade!  :tup

TAC

It's funny that we'd be completely opposite in the best and worst album but similar on the rest.  :lol

Yeah, that struck me immediately. It's also kind of awesome.  ;D

The Walrus

TAC has me inspired enough to do a top [xx] countdown of my favorite bands but nobody likes my favorite bands!  :lol

wolfking

I probably won't be able to post as frequently as Tim, but I will try.

Time of The Oath songs that will move forward;

We Burn
Steel Tormentor
Wake Up the Mountain
Power
Before the War
The Time of the Oath
Still I Don't Know

Massive shoutout to the ripper bonus track there.

I'm only listening through these albums on the way to work and the way home at the moment, so a slow process.  Already knowing the majority of the songs like the back of my hand helps.  This album is good but really loses steam at the end until the title track.

TAC

That list was quite similar to mine. An excellent album.

Better Than Raw songs that will make it through the next round;

Push
Falling Higher
Hey Lord
Revelation
Time
I Can
A Handful of Pain
Midnight Sun
Back on the Ground
A Game We Shouldn't Play

errr.........probably should have said the whole album, would have saved me some time.  :lol

Saying that.  I know already a couple that won't make it, I think I'm just showing those songs respect.

wolfking

I don't think it's worth listing songs that will move forward from The Dark Ride.  This album is amazing, I find everything here just wonderful.  I can see a lot of these songs making top 25.

TAC

That's funny about showing songs some respect. I did the same thing.  :lol

Your Better Than Raw list looks a lot like mine. I love that album. It has a great production. Maybe their best overall production.

It has great variety too but the whole thing still feels complete.  Plus with the bonus tracks it makes it even more of a stormer.

I thought about the Dark Ride and yeah, I'll just move the whole album on to show respect haha.

About to leave for work and the Rabbit cd has been picked and ready to go.

Been thinking about this here.  How would tgis work, 4 guitars the whole show? That seems overkill.  Or would he come out only for a Grapow era set or something.  I'm intrigued what would happen here.  Although it doesn't surprise me he declined, there was some really bad blood when he and Uli were fired.
