These guys haven't released a bad album in over 20 years, i'm excited about this one!

Yeah, they haven't released a bad album since Deris joined.  I don't think I could do a top 3, they are all so solid and my favs change all the time.

jjrock88

I would still pick The Dark Ride from the Deris era as my fav

Scorpion

I'm with jj, The Dark Ride is definitely the best from the Deris era. Actually, it's probably my favourite Helloween album, full stop.

jjrock88

It's too bad the dark ride lineup couldn't have stuck together

Scorpion

Well, we got Masterplan instead, and their first two albums are pretty good as well, so I'm not complaining much.

Yup, those are two great releases

wolfking

Dark Ride would make my 3 too I think.  Was my first Helloween album and it's still just as good.  That cd has aged really well.

TAC

Not wicked into the Deris era, but Dark Ride is indeed awesome.

Quote from: Buddyhunter1 on April 22, 2023, 05:54:45 PMTAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

jjrock88

I've mentioned it before, but for me Helloween along with Saxon and Primal Fear have to be the most consistent bands in the metal genre. All three release albums on a very regular basis and all releases are very solid- excellent

I'm happy with this statement.

I've been late to the party on Primal Fear, but what you say here makes a lot of sense.

I have full respect for Helloween's longevity even though I'm not nuts about the Deris era. Full props to them.

Are you aware that the Deris ''era'' is basically two thirds of the band's career?  ;)  ;D

That's the amazing thing, and the current lineup has been together for 10 years, more than a lot of bands these days.  I wish put would put the Kiske talk to bed.

jjrock88

I don't see it getting put to bed ever since Kiske has somewhat embraced metal/hard rock again.  I would like to see maybe a special appearance on either a disc or a live show........that would be cool to see

That's actually a good point.

I don't know about this. Now that he's with Kai, who he always seemed closer to, there's no reason for him to do anything with Weiki.

It's probably a best of both worlds if the Unisonic stuff continues in the vein of the last album.

Totally agree. With how the things are going now, I don't see a point of any reunions.
Quote from: Train of Naught on May 28, 2020, 10:57:25 PMThis first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

bl5150

Pretty crappy -  and I wish bands who have shit lyrics would stop making lyric videos.

jjrock88

I just thought it was ok. Definetely not craving to listen to it again

Dittomist

Yeah, this was about as underwhelming as the "As Long as I Fall" single (one of the weakest songs on the mostly stellar Gambling with the Devil) and I seriously doubt it will ever grow on me.

I always quite liked this one.  Definitely not the best on the album, but a good song.

Mladen

I've loved that one from the day one. It's probably because I became a fan around the time Gambling came out. Back then, the rest of the album was equally fantastic in my opinion, but some of the songs didn't age that great. However, I still find As long as I fall beautiful.

Evermind

Yeah, finally listened to the new song and it was meh indeed. Pretty much any song on Straight Out of Hell is better than this one, except maybe Years.

Gambling is a top: 3 Helloween album for me.
Also "As Long as I Fall" is, in my opinion one of their best singles of all time.

wolfking

I'm sure the new song will work better with the album.

I like Years, but was one of the weakest at the start.

jjrock88

I have full confidence that overall it will be a great album

Battle's Won and Lost In America are great tracks. Can't wait for the album.

wolfking

Lost in America is good and Battle's Won has grown on me.  Looking forward to this album.
