Hey folks, just finished putting together some guitar tabs for Atlas Stone. Since apparently UG has to review tabs before posting, I'll put a mediafire link here for you guys. There were some parts I couldn't quite figure out, but for the most part it should be correct. Feel free to fix anything that might not be right! :)

The Mountain is one of those cd's that will stand the test of time.  Too bad there is not a grammy category for progressive music.  There is a category for Alternative, but not sure what fits there.

Hey guys, I've been following this thread for quite a while now, just couldn't be arsed to create an account. Anyway, I think you guys might appreciate this cover of Atlas Stone I did a while back. Cheers!

If I ever need to introduce someone to the world of prog-metal, The Mountain will be their introduction.

It's a great introduction to prog in general, but unlike the first two albums, I wouldn't really consider it a prog metal album as a whole. Really, only IM, FBTE, and Pareidolia could be considered prog metal songs. Maybe Cockroach King.

I am still so torn on the Mountain. It's definitely more interesting than "Visions", but the longer songs toward the end really do nothing for me.

I still don't really care for Falling Back To Earth, but both Pareidolia and Somebody get an A+ in my book.

Finally decided to check this band out after seeing so much praise for The Mountain around here. Man I should have done this sooner!

Only a couple songs in on The Mountain, but wow I love Cockroach King

Okay, after seeing all of the rave for Cockroach King, I checked it out on youtube, and my reaction was similar to their other songs: good musically, vocally meh.  In fact, not only does the singer's voice still do nada for me, but the vocal melodies themselves annoyed the hell out of me.  I get that they were going for that quirky thing, ala Gentle Giant or Spock's Beard, but I didn't like it.  Oh well, I gave this band my best shot, so no one can say I didn't try.

Honestly, though I did really like my first listen of The Mountain, I have to agree with you a little bit. While I didn't mind the vocals per se, I didn't think they really stood out. I didn't find any of the melodies annoying though.

Well, those Gentle Giant-like multi-part harmonies are often not to my liking.  Even when Neal Morse does them (when he did with Spock's or on his own as a solo artist), they are very hit or miss for me.  They tend to sound too corny and not really all that musical to me, so once this song started off with them, I was like, "Oh great, this crap again." :lol  But even the "normal"-type vocals in the song weren't to my liking, so it wasn't just that.

Well, I haven't heard The Mountain in it's entirety, but based on the few songs I've heard, Ross has only improved on this album. They might just not be the band for you.

Ross has gotten so much better, it's crazy. I can't wait to see what crazy vocal parts they come up with on the next album.

Sooo listen to a different song on the album instead of arguably the most quirky song they've recorded? Falling Back to Earth or Pareidolia might be more up your alley.

They were catchy/muscial enough that my daughter (age 9) was singing the cockroach song about 10 minutes after hearing it.

Every morning at work the first cd I listen to is The Mountain.  I was half way thru the cd and had to take a leak and this is what I found on the urinal.  I did not bow before the cockroach, but I did let him/her go first.  After I took the picture, I flushed it.

Finally got The Mountain for Christmas. While there's some great songs on it, there's some others I really don't care for and as a whole it's good, but not fantastic.

Also, Cockroach King is one of the catchiest things ever. Might be my favorite song on the album.

I heard The Mountain for the first time yesterday. Pretty fantastic, one of the best albums I've heard from 2013 (although I haven't heard very many. :lol).

Cockroach King is actually my least favorite so far, but it may grow on me.

It was my least favorite for awhile too. While it hasn't jumped too high in my rankings, I think it's a pretty great song now.

Yeah, I can see that. I mean, I didn't hate it. I thought the beginning was really good, but it kind of lost me near the middle. Definitely needs more listens, though.

That limited edition is *REALLY* hard to get ahold of.

I can't even find any on Ebay....or the used re-sellers on Amazon....or the official website.

You'd think *someone* would have one.
