Mmm, I don't know about that. It certainly adds to it, but I don't consider them two parts of a whole.

they are, though — the only reason "Son et Lumiere" and "Tira Me a las Arañas" are split from "Inertiatic" and "Drunkship" is because the label wanted the usual 10+ track album. same reason they split "Cassandra Gemini" on Frances, though that one was more specifically because the label was trying to pay them for an EP because the album would've been 5 tracks!

Thats pretty cool trivia.

I still don't see it, though. When I listen I always feel like its a seperate track, with the Son et Lumiere bit tacked on to soften the start of the album a bit/act as a "starter" for the album ala Regression in Scenes or Prolouge on My Arms, Your Hearse.
I punch those numbers into my calculator and they make a happy face.

I don't know about you, but I can't listen to Inertiatic ESP without Son et Lumiere.

I actually ripped them as one song in iTunes.  ;D But I tend to do that a lot when it comes to short, "intro" tracks.

I didn't feel that a lot of Noctourniquet was too memorable.  A lot of it seemed to meander a lot without really going anywhere.  I'll need to give it more listens, but that's my first impression.  The overall idea was really cool, just fumbled a little bit in the execution.  "The Malkin Jewel," "The Whip Hand," "Vedamalady," and "Empty Vessels Make the Loudest Sounds" are my favorites so far.

Still trying to figure the album out myself. TMV usually requires a few listens to really open up, but this one seems a little, I dunno, off. I can see it, regardless, sitting at the bottom of my TMV list. Just doesn't have the OOMPH even Octahedron had.

Between the single and what you guys and other people on other forums are saying, this sounds like a hellluva disappointing album; even more than Octahedron. Not excited :(

I wouldn't say that, it's not one of my favorite from the albums.

But I don't find the album disappointing at all! It's just... well, weirder than anything they've done before (IMO).

this. I've only heard the single so far, but I say the weirder the better! Really loved how different the Jewel was from everything else I've heard by them.

So I watched a concert from 2010, and I have to say that my favorite part was the Broken English Jam. That song fucking kills. It's got a sick groove, and I just can't stop listening to it. Anyone else really into this song?

Only heard The Malkin Jewel and Aegis so far (couldn't resist sneaking myself a peek, but that's my lot now.) TMJ has definitely improved since the first couple of listens but I still can't put my finger on why it just isn't the same. Might be something to do with the unusual mix or... I don't know. It's not *bad*, it's just not all there.

Aegis.... when I was listening to the live versions of this song it had the energy and vibe reminiscant of Intertiatic ESP from De-Loused. In the studio it's certainly a little bit different than that and it adopts it's own vibe. I can't help but wish they'd used the harmony employed on the final chorus for all of the choruses throughout. Like it more than TMJ, though.

All in all I'm still insanely looking forward to this release, but I am a little more nervous than before.

From what I'm hearing I feel like it's going to have the same effect as Octahedron: at first I didn't really care for it, but after giving it some time I've grown to love many of the songs on it. I can definitely see Noctourniquet doing the same thing. Not every album can make me fall in love with it immediately like De-Loused or Bedlam.

I can confidently say that I am looking forward to this as more than most of the records coming out this year.

For the other good boys: Zed and Two Naughts is available for streaming on TMV's Facebook page. Also, if you pre-order or have preordered Noctourniquet you'll be able to download Z&2N in addition to Jewel.

Zed and Two Naughts is a lot better than the first single! Sounds like this will be a better record than the last one, but I'm not sure it will beat any of their first 4 albums. We'll see come release date.

My favorite TMV albums:

1. Deloused In The Comatorium
2. Frances The Mute
3. Amputechture
4. Bedlam In Goliath
5. Octahedron

I hope Noctourniquet breaks the above pattern.

I collect colored vinyl mostly, and the fact that my favorite band is releasing an album on super sick colored vinyl makes me so damn happy. I'll have to wait til like June to get it, but I don't give a shit. This thing is gonna be so awesome.
