And their vinyl is notorious for being rare, sought after and pricey af.

Hope the fact these sold out so quickly means they'll release each record separately.

yeah I remember seeing a copy at a Local Record store of Deloused like 7 or 8 years ago for $300. I was pretty shocked by that, but then came to realize it was pretty common.

I saw a copy of Octahedron for around $60 a couple of years ago and passed. I don't mind that record, but I don't like it enough to spend even half that much on it.

The promotional picture confuses me. Can anyone identify the format of this box? Will this fit into my vinyl shelve?

I might be captain obvious saying that this is just too expensive, but 18 LPs costing 500 bucks, that means every single LP costs around 27 dollars. Frances The Mute has 3LPs, so basically, that album alone would cost over 80 dollars. A 2LP album is pretty standard nowadays and usually costs somewhere between 20 and 30 bucks. Here, every 2LP set would be over 50 dollars. Sorry, but nah. There are a bunch of other boxsets that I have yet to purchase. I haven't even bought the Steven Wilson remixes of the classic YES albums, and that one was reasonably priced.

You're not just paying for the LPs, you're also paying for the box design and what's included in the box besides the LPs. And look at how the Vinyl set will sit in an angle on another base box.

I don't know how they can be so proud of winning with them odds. - Little Big Man

Yeah I think with a boxset you're not just paying for what's included but also in this case a limited collector's edition that depending on how big of a fan you are would make it worth it.

For me it's too much in terms of how big of a Mars Volta fan I am, but if they were my favorite band I'd probably pay up just to own it.

still pricey ($60+), but all of their records are for sale now individually.

Cassandra Gemini split across 2 sides..

For $60+ I'd kind of expect the title track on there as well, but alas.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

bump.

anyone ever heard of ex-TMV members Thomas Pridgen and Adrián Terrazas-González new band

THE MASK OF THE PHANTASM ?

I know it's not TMV, but I was just suggested this album over the weekend and I am rather hooked!

Think The Mars Volta with a vocalist somewhat like Courtney Swain from Bent Knee, and using really tasty Saxophone at times. Like many, many Sax breakdowns.

The debut album from The Mask of the Phantasm "New Axial Age" was released in 2021, and is about 42 and a half minutes, so it hardly drags on much. But it's rather non-stop with riff after riff and breakdowns with a lot of soaring female vocals.

Very recommended for The Mars Volta fans

Rumours emerging of something happening in The Mars Volta camp...

If you play a song of theirs on Spotify it'll flash up with what is assumed to be coordinates. Apparently the coordinates are to the Civic Center in Los Angeles.

The coordinates are apparently added to the the thumbnails on all their YouTube videos (I haven't checked this personally). I listened to The Widow on Spotify (I'm in the UK but not sure that'll make any difference) and the looped video is the coordinates.

I haven't checked them personally but someone on Facebook said the coordinates are for the Civic Center.

Nice! Thank you. Took a moment, but once I refreshed Spotify it showed up. Same with the thumbnails in Youtube. Hoping there are more concerts if they are reuniting.

it's funny how multiple times in the last year, Cedric has posted about being retired.

But I've seen conflcting comments about their comeback from some of the fan communities also within the last few months.

If they came out of retirement and recorded another album in the vein of De-loused-Amputechture, that would be amazing!

I'm still taking this with a grain of salt until we get some hard, concrete, definitive information from the band

Waiting for what may happen, RockZone can confirm that this time the group's return to activity is serious, and it will not be limited to a reissue or a box set in the style of La Realidad De Los Sueños , but that Omar Rodríguez- Lopéz and Cedric Bixler have already recorded a new album and have a new line-up to go on tour.

This will be developed first by theaters in the United States and will be extended to European festivals next year. From what we know from sources close to the band, on their first album since  2012's Noctourniquet , the band's Latin roots will be more present than ever.

It seems that very, very soon we will be able to hear the first preview.

I only just found this video of what the coordinates are for. They put up a "Voltabox" - a big container to get into to hear 3 minutes of new music clips along with some visuals.

I think it's a perfect single to whet the appetite. It doesn't give too much away and I rather that than a nine minute epic or something. I personally hope they don't drop another single before the album.

I guess I'm going to be going back through their catalogue today then  :lol

I've never been in love with this band, but have felt I've been on the cusp of really 'getting' them for a while. I really like a few albums and songs, but there's a large majority of their catalogue I just think is fine. They are an intriguing band though, and I revisit them probably more than a lot of bands I like considerably more.

Loving reading through super fans reactions on Reddit  :corn
