Just getting into these guys. So far, both Bedlam and Octahedron are excellent, if completely opposite ends of the spectrum. That being said, Bedlam edges Octa because of it's intense energy.
Everything can, should and will be progressive.

Goliath used to be my favorite Mars Volta song.  It kicked ass live.

I would really like to see TMV live at some point. I imagine it would be one hell of a show.

When I saw them it actually wasn't a great experience overall.  Cedric was pissed off at us because some drunken douchebag threw something at the stage.  The show only lasted for an hour and a half, closing with "the Widow," (at least I think they did, I couldn't take the bad sound anymore and left after that) after which Cedric said "See, I told you we can be your friend!)  Plus the sound (as I said) was absolutely HORRIBLE.  I don't even remember if they played anything off De-Loused, majority of the set was Bedlam and Amputechture stuff, though they did play Cygnus, which I got a kick out of, and some of the improv was cool.

BARE THEM
SEVENS
THREE TO A PALL

Amputechture is amazing, the only song that doesn't really blow me away is El Ciervo Vulnerado, simply because it sounds like an inferior version of Vicarious Atonement to me.

I've had Bedlam for the longest time, and had given Deloused a few listens as well, but am just now giving the rest of their albums a listen.  Tremulant is fantastic, with Eunuch Provocateur being possibly their best song that I've heard so far.  Currently on my first listen of Frances, and it is absolutely blowing my mind.  Have yet to hear the rest.

if you like "Eunuch Provocateur" on Tremulant, i recommend hunting down the re-recorded version they made for De-loused. it's goddamn killer.

I love how the opening of Frances the Mute (album) is quiet, and then the end of the album is the same thing but louder. So awesome  :metal

These guys need to announce the new album!  Omar's frequent solo albums are great, but I need some new Volta!

Yes Id like them to announce a release date soon, the album has been completed 2 or 3 times. Didnt Omar say he finished the album back in 2009 and then scrapped it and started over?

The album I've listened to the longest is Amputechture, however, my favorite album by far has got to be The Bedlam in Goliath. Thomas Pridgen is a maniac on the drums, and I love every minute of it.
