Don't you mean the Rock and Roll LOL of Fame?

Still no Rush = FAIL

However, I have a lot of respect for Tom Waits and hope he gets in, but I have a feeling he won't.

UGH.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

Yeah but we can still rage when we don't see artists that deserve to be included.  Alice Cooper is step in a good direction.  Bon Jovi is kinda inevitable.  Beastie Boys is standard HOF behavior at this point.  Neil Diamond and Donna Summer I can understand.  LL Cool J, Dr. John, and a bunch of people no one cares about?  Not so much.

There is no reason why Bon Jovi shouldn't be in the RRHF, they actually deserve, whether you like their stuff or not.

I never heard of Chic, Donovan, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Joe Tex, and Chuck Willis.

And don't be knocking Dr. John.

Exactly.

And I just looked: at both Rush forums, Rush not being included is the first topic at the top of the page of the Rush main forum. :lol  You can almost set your watch to it every year.  It is like they expect those dopes to all of a sudden think, "Golly jee, that Rush band is great; let's let them in this year."  And when it doesn't happen, they have to express their outrage.  Again.  Every year.

I thought Dr. John was jazz.  I thought LL Cool J was rap.  Neil Diamond claims to be a jazz singer.

Has the Electric Light Orchestra made it in yet?

"Most of these guys never had a prime."

That sums up a ton of the HOF inductees. Wenner's explanation for including hip-hop/rap artists is downright pathetic as well.

Which is why Genesis got in, solely because of their pop era.  Thankfully Phish knew what the fuck they were talking about and played "Watcher of the Skies."  Of course, it still baffles me that Yes haven't gotten in based solely on "Owner of a Lonely Heart."

And its really just ridiculous that Rush haven't gotten in yet, and that these douchebags will never let them in.  Same with Styx, or Journey, or any of the late 70s "faceless bands" that still draw huge crowds.  I may not be the biggest Bon Jovi fan, but I'll admit they deserve to be in the HOF based on their/his popularity and influence.  You can't hide behind a concept that basically begs for subjectivity, but then let your own tastes get in the way of honoring certain bands.

Controversial opinion alert: I agree with the Beastie Boys nomination and feel that they belong in the Hall. They're not just a rap group - they've done straight up rock, they can all play instruments, several of their rap songs contain rock elements, and they were one of the first to mix rap and rock and make it acceptable to do so. Their influence and mark on not only rap music, but music as a whole as well as all of popular culture is massive. They deserve it.

That being said, Rush deserves it a hell of a lot more...but if you're still holding your breath waiting for their induction, that's your own damn fault. It's clearly not going to happen so you may as well forget it. I certainly hope Alice Cooper gets in though.

There will be no Beastie Boys bashing.  I direct your attention to Paul's Boutique.

I don't think I'd ever agree with any argument that says Bon Jovi, Styx or Journey be allowed in no matter how good. Writing a few anthem rock classics shouldn't mean automatic entrance.

Journey and Styx definitely wrote more than "a few."  Bon Jovi wrote only a few rock anthems, yes, but he's also relevant today with his (sucky) country crossovers.  The guy was and is still a superstar.

No surpise on the nominations.  Bands like the Beastie Boys will always get in because of the Rolling Stone Mag factor.  I'm not saying they don't deserve to be in but RS's favs will get in on it's first ballot.

Genesis got in because of their pop era and Phil Collins.  I don't think the HOF gave a damn about their proggy past.
