- "My heart is bleeding bad, but I'll be ok"
I have to admit that the grammar nazi inside of me cringes every time I hear that line.
It should be, "My heart is bleeding badly..." I get that sometimes a grammatical error can be made to make a vocal melody sound more natural and better*, but that is not one. The line sounds awkward as is, so I think he could written a better line that would have sounded better, while still conveying the same amount of emotion.
*A good example of a grammatical mistake that makes the vocal melody sound better is in Death Cab for Cutie's "Tiny Vessels." The line, "She is beautiful, but she don't mean a thing to me," sounds perfect from a melodic standpoint. It correctly being, "...but she doesn't mean a thing to me," would have made the line sound too clunky, like they jammed in one too many syllables or something.
