Two songs compared for obvious reasons.

I've seen a lot of people spreading the love for TBOT, so I thought this could be an interesting poll. To me TAMP beats TBOT, but that's just me.

TAMP by a long shot.

The only part of TBOT that I really like is Petrucci's outro solo.

As evidenced by my recent TAMP (demo version) thread, I really really love that song. The lyrics are better, the solo is better, and it's just a bit more emotional to me.

Also, anyone voting for TBOT probably hasn't heard the demo version of TAMP... but if you have, what do you like about TBOT more?

TBOT is better than the studio version of TAMP. The live and/or demo version of TAMP is way better than either.

The Best of Times does have that sad eerie piano intro. I also enjoy the happy Rush influence parts that he reminisces about his dad, and how it turns from a song about the fun times into remembering.
Too bad we won't be hearing that song anytime soon.

I've never heard the demo version of TAMP.  However, I would say that TBOT is better than the official version.

I don't really like either song that well or enough to pick one over the other. The only difference is that TBOT has an awesome Petrucci outro-solo. So, if I had to pick one, it would be TBOT.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
