Agree with A Perfect Circle and Rage Against the Machine, and one of those songs is NOT "Killing in the Name Of."  Most repetitive song EVAR.
Kansas
Queens of the Stone Age (I actually only count like one good song, the rest is terrible, terrible music)
The White Stripes

Excellent A Perfect Circle songs off the top of my head:

The Hollow
Judith
3 Libras
Brena
The Package
The Noose
Vanishing
Pet
Gravity

more than one or two. They have other great ones as well

"Killing in the Name Of."  Most repetitive song EVAR.

And that's clearly not what they were going for.

This is looking more and more like the controversial opinions thread.  Esp. with the CoCa posts.

I'm tempted to say Kings of Leon, but I like more than just two of their songs.  DMB is a band for this thread though.  I like that song that sounds like every other song. :neverusethis:

Excellent A Perfect Circle songs:

3 Libras
Orestes
Blue
The Outsider
Passive

They have some other pretty good ones, but not many great ones in my opinion. Maybe Gravity.

DMB is a band for this thread though.  I like that song that sounds like every other song. :neverusethis:

I seriously don't get that complaint for DMB.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

They have good songs, and they're great players.  But whenever I hear a lot of DMB in a row, there are very few that actually stand out.  The rest just sort of blur together.  The song with that fiddle melody (can't remember the name right now) is probably their most unique song out of what I heard.  Trust me, my coworkers this summer loved to put DMB on the pool speakers.

I don't really care what they were 'going for.'  What they ended up with was a piece of shit.

I don't really listen to RATM, but they do have some awesome songs.  "Testify" is my favorite out of what I've heard.

I dunno, I guess it's just because I'm a fan but I don't really get that complaint with DMB. I suppose live all the soloing would sound similar.

Killing in the Name Of is a song to mosh-pit to or something...The song alone is not that great

Rage Against The Machine is one of the worst bands I've ever heard. Strangely enough, I can tolerate Killing In The Name Of. It's more repetitive than No More Lies but it's somehow the only song of theirs I can stand.

Mer de Noms is awesome you guys.

And now that I'm here, CKY, with "96 Quite Bitter Beings". The song might even suck but it's catchy as hell.

I just find it a tad contradictory that people occasionally bash songs like that and Smells Like Teen Spirit and cite their simplicity as something that's wrong with them, and then wank over something like Collapse the Light into Earth.

But, it's like, the atmosphere, and, the vague lyrics, and, like the intricate beauty and subtle details, and, like, Steven Wilson, man. STEVEN WILSON

(I get your point in a way, though the songs aren't comparable in the slightest. I happen to like both songs)

There's nothing wrong with simplicity.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with simplicity, however here's a very important line between simplicity and poor songwriting. (just in general, not in reference to any of the songs here)

Is this was directed at me? Because I've never said anything about simplicity nor did I bashed the song. I just said that this song have a very energetic vibe and that it's a great song in a "live" set-up (I seriously love moshing to that song) but that it loses something when your only listening only to the studio version.

Wut: November Rain, Sweet Child O Mine, Paradise City, Estranged, Coma and You Could Be Mine are some great ones off the top of my head.

Metallica
Led Zepplin

Also wut. I'm not even a Led Zeppelin fan but I can see that they have a ton of great songs. And Metallica have albums full of great songs.

No, first 2-3 albums with Smash on top are really awesome, that makes more than 1-2 songs? ;D

I know other people like them.  Dexter, though, couldn't sing live to save himself.
It's just not my taste.

Yea, I respect your taste. They sounded hardcore when I was younger and I loved that feeling.
