I want the game so bad, but I'm poor.

Dude, get a student loan. Seriously. It's like free money that you don't have to pay back until you're old!
Imposiburu, the student loans here are a pain in the ass to get, you need to be a perfect A student and the process to get it is really slow.
I think im going to trade some PS3 games for it.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

Without spoiling the game, how long does it take to get your friend code in the game? Like after 1st gym, 2nd gym, etc?
Not too long. I seem to remember it being after visiting a place called the dream yard - which I think you go to before the first gym, though it could plausibly have been just after.

It is just after. Just after the first gym, you get the Pokégear stuff or whatever.

Only played through for a minute so far but I have to say the resolution of the game on the original DS kinda bugs me. It seems like the game was catered to the newer DS models, so I lost out on that.  :lol

Also I chose Tepig as my starter, just because I usually go with the fire pokemon (except in Diamond).

This is a very minor point, but regarding the original DS, you know how most pokemon have one strong stat and one weak stat? And the strong one's in red, whereas the weak one's in blue?

The screen on my big-and-chunky DS is too dark for me to discern the shade of blue that denotes the weak stat from the normal blue of all the other stats. Tiny thing, mainly attributable to my own outdated tech, but a little irritating.

Only place to get it is used now.

Holy shit, I just looked on Amazon and it's $100 used. Is this a supply and demand thing or were they originally near that price? Seems outrageous to me.

I said earlier that I can't connect to campus internet with my DS. I'll be home either Sunday or Monday for Spring break, so I'll post it then.

Attention consumers: Blitzle is much worse than I originally thought he'd be.  However, Sawk, Munna, and Dewott are still the bees' knees.  I hope Sewaddle will be as well once it evolves.

I'm also loving the English names.  Purrloin, Roggenrola, and Watchog in particular.

I only just got to the first town but I have to say I really love this game so far. It has a great atmosphere to it, and it kind of reminds me of the first time I played Gold for some reason.

Two questions....
1. The liberty pass. As long as I receive the pass from mystery gift, can I use it anytime I want, even after the expiration thing in April? The reason I ask is because I want to get the pass in Black, but I don't really want to play through the game until I beat white.
2. Might just be because I'm using the old DS again, but has anyone else encountered really slow saving?

1. Pretty sure as long as you have the item, you can go whenever you want. Its only OBTAINING the item that is time limited
2. I haven't noticed anything like this, save time seems about the same as Heart Gold imo.

Alright, cool thanks!

I didn't have HeartGold/SoulSilver, so I'm not sure. Just comparing it to Diamond it seemed to be a lot slower, but it's probably just me.  :lol

Yeah, I've noticed that it saves slower. But at least it got rid of the "you're going to overwrite this file" message

Just beat Burgh and yes, he does kind of look like Tom Baker.  Mostly just the scarf and hair though.

Now if there was a gym leader that looked like Matt Smith, that would be awesome.

Hahaha. That'd be ace. Wonder what kind of team he'd have. Something time and spacey.

Xatu and Claydol from the past, Klinklang and Magnezone representing the future, and Lunatone and Solrock from space.

Although he might go a bit more british, actually, than Xatu and Claydol. Chandelure and Escavalier from the past, p'raps?

...am I seriously designing a pokemon team for the Doctor? Fucking hell I need to get out more.

Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.

Waitaminute, Celebi travels through time.  If the Doctor were ever to have a pokemon companion, it would be Celebi.  I'd say he'd have a Klinklang too, because its one of those tawdry quirk things.  I agree with Escavalier though, just thinking about how many times the Doctor's gone back to ancient sword-using times.  And of course there'd be one pokemon that he thinks is cool but no one else likes.

Is there a pokemon that resembles a blue box yet?

ANYWAYS, here's what my team is at the moment:

23 Dewott (named after Ryan, because Harry suggested it)
24 Pansear (will replace with Chandelure ASAP)
23 Swadloon
21 Sawk
20 Munna
19 Sandile (grinding right now)

Pretty amazing mix I'd say.

Sometimes I wish I was the type that just power leveled one pokemon and didn't care about the rest. Also, panpour is a bitch-ass.
