I wonder if Mike will drum on JP's solo album like he did on the first one.  And play live as well.

He didn't do that. Dave DiCenso did the drums on tracks, 1, 2, 4-8. Tony Verderosa did track 3.

Oh right, well he played live anyways.  I just figured he also played in the studio.

Petrucci is such a great guy. LaBrie's comment was nice as well.

That won't be necessary. We have an own thread devoted to JR's improvisation.

JP and James speaking is good. I love how JP plans on being online a little more. I can't wait for this album to come out. [enter impatience]

I almost don't want him to go too far onto the internet, now. I don't want him to see those horrible fans who like to go around hectoring musicians about what they're doing wrong with their careers. I'd rather shelter him. Like a puppy.

:lol

Yes, we must try not to scare him away and keep him from wandering unknowingly into the dark corners of the intrawebz.. innocent little cub that he is  :(

I love JP. Always comes across as really chilled and I think his reaction (and JR's for that matter) has spoken volumes about how classy they can be.

Whilst I still love MP deep down I'm still a bit disappointed by the way he's handled this tbh.

Class fellows, the lot of them, but JP especially.  His calmness and openness really put a lot of my fears about the possible state of the band to rest.

There is already so much praise for JP in this thread, but I will continue it.

JP has really assured my faith in the future DT now, and making it clear that the split went fine really does make me happy. Just really looking forward to the new album and tour now!

If anyone wonders, I cleaned up the first page a bit removing some extraneous discussion figuring if John views this place for the first time I'd like him to follow it easily. I would caution everyone to expect John not see this, but post thinking he will. In other words, be on your best behavior but don't expect it to be rewarded. If Petrucci answers some of our questions that would be awesome, but certainly not expected as this is not his forum.

JP's comments are very calming and reassuring. Any concerns I had about the future of the band are pretty much gone.
I'm extremely excited about the next DT album. I have a good feeling about it.

Other bands in this situation could have given off the impression that they are continuing on as a challenge to themselves that they can survive the departure of a founding/important member. And maybe even a little out of spite.

I admire the professionalism JP and the band are taking with their approach of ‘We are continuing on because we love making music and working together, and we don't want our musical journey to end yet...'

This should be taught as a lecture. "Difficult Transitions 101." It doesn't seem like a chore, the way they're dealing with it. I'm amazed at the amount of optimism. A major founding member has left and yet a lot of people are completely pumped. Ace.

I wholeheartedly agree, Kev.

I will say that this thread (thanks for helping a busy working man have these JP + quotes in one place without searching too far) and so many of the posts on this forum have helped to reassure me after the shocking news on Wednesday. Now I can listen to all my DT without feeling bittersweet. :-)

Even better; with such sad news coupled with such an optimistic vision of the future, a very fitting name for the next album would be Black Clouds and Si...
Oh, wait...
