He didn't write it, but he quoted this. Is he trying to tell us something? (This goes a bit along the lines of "the band my dad named")

Not trying to start a flame war here, this was a big change in DT land and my musical life, but MP should stop suggesting the band's over without him.

I don't know why he would quote that. He's basically implying "I was the heart of DT, how will they continue without me." I feel its kind of a dick thing to post. Just post your official press release and what you're planning to do, and thats it. Posting an article like that suggests that theres something really wrong.

Maybe I'm just being picky, maybe I'm not seeing straight seeing as it's all still new news... but does posting that link on his twitter come across as slightly bad form to anyone else?

"Check this out, this guy reckons the band I just left will flounder and says how I'm all important 'n' shiz - how cool is that!?"

I'm certain it's not the reason he posted it. He was probably just psyched to see people saying nice things about him. But it comes across a little bit schadenfreudy.

I have the uneasy feeling that this whole thing could turn very ugly... I'm reminded of Pink Floyd. Roger Waters left just figuring the band would dissolve, but when they actually carried on he couldn't stand it and things went so poorly from there. I hope that doesn't happen here.

With his initial post yesterday declaring he was leaving the band, his reasons were (kind of) well supported. But this, this appears as very immature and self-centered to my eyes.

No offense to Portnoy, but he always seems to be a little self-centered. Its hard to tell what his real intentions are. I figure if he was really angry at the band, he wouldn't wish them luck. Lets be honest, Portnoy doesn't always take the most "politically correct" way when it comes to his opinions and thoughts.

There's no need of reinforcing that. We all, DT fans, know what MP has done for us. He basically claimed that on every interview he was made (And hey, we lived it for lots of years!).

I agree.

It's similar to when he talks about James. He says what he is thinking and doesn't think about how it may look. However, there is definately more to the story than what we know. At least in my opinion. You don't just leave a band that you have been with for the past 25 years because they want to continue making music and you want to rest.... you work it out somehow no matter how difficult it may be.
