I don't see any need to sign up at MP's or JP's forum. I mean, whatever they are going to post or say can be read if you have guest status and will inevitably end up here as well anyway. And if I had a question, chances are that I wouldn't get an answer anyway, so I'll spare myself the fruitless efforts.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

I've got a signed and framed Systematic Chaos print that is pretty much laughing at me.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Could this be a mid-life crisis thing? He's having so much fun with these young dudes and enjoying mainstream fame that now he doesn't want to leave it. Will it pass?

Is that the one you got from pre-ordered the album through FYE.com? If so, I have one of those... not framed though.

Mine isn't, my wife doesn't like it so it's hiding behind one of our shelves. :(

You people and you're one thing... in this room alone I have MP's picture or a poster of something he's on staring me over six times over, twice signed.

If I would have brought all their album booklets to the signing, would that have too much? Sure would suck if I couldn't have got them all signed.

Wait, this means their next album will have less balls in the metal, but more prog... Hmm, I like. Best of luck to Portnoy.

Chris Jericho is probably going to show up and crap on DT like he did with his twitter post.

I'm definetly gonna listen to what MP has to say/ I'll try my best to give a summary of what happens later 2morrow.
Will not change this until either:
1. NY Jets win the SuperBowl
2. NJ Devils win the Stanley Cup
or
3. MP comes back to DT

I took it as him saying that DT deciding to continue on without MP was a mistake, not that they ousted MP.

Who knows?

If it is something like that, I'd imagine that he would regret it at least a bit once the honeymoon ends, and he realizes that a lot of the things that he didn't find fun about Dream Theater also exist with A7X.
Obviously at this point we know that there was probably more to it than what he said in his statement, but stating that he left because he was having more fun with Transatlantic and A7X seems shortsighted. Most things are more consistently fun and exciting when you rarely do them. His solution, doing those more, completely ignores that and could easily cause the same problems with those things.

I believe Eddie Trunk has a website. Be sure to check that out for all the info because I'm not sure.

I'm not sure orc. I'm sure MP just wanted DT to wait and take a break, so I assumed he was just siding with MP.

Huh, I read that as "they let him go! Oh noes big mistake you guys are perfect for each other"

you know, that kind of statement. Not implying or siding just being a friend and fan who's perturbed. But what do I know.

No it's not. It's screaming "I AM THE LAAAAAAAAAAAST (one of these you'll ever be getting)".

I've been making sure to keep a few basic facts in mind, with all this, personally:

1 - the band didn't break up. ONE member left... just one of five.
2 - it's entirely possible for your favorite band to no longer exist as it once did, and still be your favorite band
3 - the music and concerts and experiences that I was fortunate enough to share with this incarnation of this band aren't going to go away just because MP does -- I still have the music and the memories and the experiences, and they're all fantastic
4 - they're all still alive, so there's always chance for a reunion.. if one had died I'd be wishing to God that he'd only left. Maybe I got my wish already and don't know it.. and here I am bitching. Shame on me.

What great fucking memories I've made with the help of Dream Theater (MP edition) -- I'm glad for all of them.

Silly little thought...

Interested to see where the artwork goes, for the next album. And title. I always got the impression that was basically Mike's job. Wonder if they'll go to Hugh Syme again, or do something different.
