Great month for music then!  It reminds me of 2007 when DT, PT and Rush all came out with music in a few months.

Man... I hope I make a lot of money in August so I can save up for all the music stuff I'm buying in September!

Can't wait to get this as I missed this tour, and I'm sure the boys put on a GREAT show at Cleveland! It's great to finally have an American Rush show on film (unless I'm wrong about it, oops...).

Looks like the DVD/BR is set for a September 27th release and will be called "Time Machine".

I'd love for this to come out then, but I think it will likely be pushed back a bit.

It will be cool though to have this be the centerpiece of Rushashana on VH-Classic

True, but it'd be a bigger shock had they not released them on the single last year. If they just toured two new songs without a prior studio-recording release, and then released a live version of them before their proper album release, that would be shocking.

Still, it's very interesting to think about! :tup

It reminds me of the old days where Rush toured and played a few songs of MP before they recorded it.  So I like the symmetry.

Haha! ;) Even in the Rush fan community it seems I'm one of the few who lists Presto as one of his favourites!

Well, I list Presto in my bottom 5 or so, but a big part of that is it has two of my least favorite songs on it (Superconductor and Show Don't Tell), but it has a really cool clear crisp sound to it and the rest of the album varies between love and like and with Rush it's just that I don't LOVE it quite as much as most other records. My vinyl copy of the album is still in great shape and I always like putting it on.

Nick, what's so bad about Show Don't Tell?

It's just one of the handful of Rush songs I've never really cared for. I usually don't mind when Rush goes a bit poppy, but SDT and Superconductor have a poppy edge that I really dislike.

I like SDT but Superconductor is a sub par song by Rush's standards.

I like SDT but Superconductor is a sub par song by Rush's standards.

It's affectionately known in these parts as "Stupidconductor" (and I can still hear Scott Muni's voice on 102.7 WNEW interviewing Geddy when the album came out referring to it as "Semiconductor" without fail  (I think he must have been stoned that day))

I like the lyrics and I KNOW the music is supposed to be flighty to support the lyrical themes, but I can't ever get that video out of my head and it just KILLS it for me. (Hands down the worst video the band has ever been associated with).

I had a rough time getting into Presto a few months after it came out because I was spinning When Dream and Day Unite constantly by this point especially after I'd just seen them open for Marillion at the Ritz so I was probably in full on Dream Theater (and Fish/Marillion mode) at this point.

Anyway, I'm so incredibly happy to have witnessed Presto as I thought given the bands negative thoughts in general about the album that I'd never have the chance.

Now if they can just dust off Available Light.....

FYI, gold Roll the Bones can be pre-ordered on Amazon for $18 right now.

I currently have Signals and Permanent Waves and shall happily be adding this.

Nick, I've got to say the remaster sounded better then the gold disks but the signals gold was worth every penny for the missing vocal line in The Weapon.

Considering I've never owned a normal Signals disc I actually have no clue what you're talking about.

Edit: Though I suppose I've heard the song live enough I should have noticed, but I've never picked up on anything.

I remember that!  I hated that they took that line out.

Okay.  So what's the line?  I have Signals on vinyl, and on a "regular" CD somewhere, but I've never noticed a missing line, mostly because I wasn't that familiar with the original version of the song.

The last line before the instrumental section in the middle is missing on the gold version.  I think it's at 3:11.  The vocal line is simply not there.

That's weird.  I've always wondered how this kind of thing can occur.  Usually the explanation indicates that some "alternate master" was mistakenly used.  I'm not saying that that's what happened here, but I'd love to hear the explanation.

I would, too.  The Sisyphuses (which are softly whispered in between the main vocal lines) missing in the choruses of the Test for Echo remaster in Carve Away the Stone is bizarre, too.

I looked it up, and apparently that line weren't on the original studio masters and were added after the fact. MFSL, working with the original masters worked with what they thought was everything.
