Okay. So I looked though almost all the pages of this thread, and I never saw The Fountain of Lamneth mentioned once.

Am I weird to really enjoy this song?

Not at all; I'd say it's easily among the best of their 70s material!  (On a similar note, am I weird for preferring The Caress of Steel over 2112?)

Fountain of Lamneth was DEFINITELY discussed before. Might have been the thread before this one though.

I like Lamneth. It's not their strongest song, but some sections are amazing. And the spacing between the different sections  never bothered me like it does for some people, I just kind of see them as different mini-songs that tell a story and not one continuous epic. Almost like a mini concept album taking up one side of  a record, if you will.

I think I also prefer CoS over 2112, as far as albums go. But I think I prefer 2112 to Lamneth.

What's the best of the 90's albums? I'm thinking Counterparts.

That or Roll the Bones.

Counterparts, definitely.  It really isn't close.

I like Roll the Bones a lot more than most, but it is still doesn't touch Counterparts.

I'd take Roll the Bones over Counterparts by a hair.

Counterparts is one of their best ever and is certainly their best from the 90s.

What's the opinion of Test for Echo?  I really like it; can't decide if that or Counterparts would be my favorite from the 90's.

Test for Echo has not aged well for me.  I mean, I like it, but it is probably my least favorite studio album of theirs.  It only has one or two songs that I listen to with any kind of regularity (when I go for Rush to listen to), and it has a few that I wouldn't care if I ever heard again, including the positively wretched "Time and Motion."

Well Counterparts is my favorite Rush album overall, so I'd say it wins the 90's as well :lol

I like Test for Echo more than most people seem to.  It was the 1st album that was released after I became a fan, so I'm sure there is some bias there, but I still think it's a very strong album.

And I love "Time and Motion."

Counterparts hands down.

I'd say Test and CParts are about =ly strong.  Both have their strong songs (Animate, Stick It Out,  Nobody's Hero, and Cold Fire of CP; title track, Driven, Time and Motion, and Resist of T4E; as well as the instrumentals) yet also have their share of weakish/bland efforts (Alien Shore, Under Sun and Moon, Speed of Love of CP; and Half The World, Dog Years, and Virtuality of T4E).  The rest between the two are about equally good, if not particularly great.

Overall, they're both good, if not great albums which are generally outstanding at best and bland at worst.  Far better than Power Windows and Hold Your Fire, and most definitely superior to Roll The Bones.  I say that Vapor Trails is probably their best since GUP, though.  (Can't comment on S&A, though; I do not have that one)

As for the 90s albums, my favorite is also Roll The Bones. Not too big on Counterparts or T4E.

I say that Vapor Trails is probably their best since GUP, though.
I agree, if it weren't for the sheer epicness of Snakes & Arrows.

Snakes And Arrows, epic??? That album is probably the weakest album Rush has ever made. Besides a couple of good songs its mostly mid tempo filler.
I love Vapor Trails! Its light years better then Snakes And Arrows, imo.

Wat?  Snakes and Arrows is almost nothing but gold.  Miles better than RtB, HYF, Presto, T4E, CoS, and VT and on par with albums like FBN, GUP, s/t, and Hemispheres.

Snakes and Arrows is a great album. Has some duds like most of the later Rush albums, but I still would say it's their best release since....Presto, maybe even since Power Windows.

I love the sound of S & A but I do love the emotion and urgency of VT.  I hope the new album has both with a stripped down sound.  less layering on Alex's part.  The first 2 song's seem to be just that.

A quick question: Has a live version of The Camera Eye ever been officially released? Can't find it on any of their concert DVDs or live albums. Maybe they haven't performed it that much since 1981.

No it hasn't.  That makes the new DVD/Blu Ray worth buying.  Plus the live version of Presto.
