It's a pretty cool set, but I don't care for the ordering too much. I think there's a reason Rush doesn't organize their sets that way, even on anniversary tours: an entire set of modern Rush and an entire set of classic Rush doesn't really feel right.

Totally agree. I think its much more fun when they jump around the eras.

and if there was one single song I would want to see live, it would be Anthem. Its my favorite Rush song.

Set 1:
Limelight
Entre Nous
Cut to the chase
Driven
Virtuality
Leave that thing alone
Roll the bones
Mystic rhythms
Subdivisions
Closer to the heart
La Villa Strangiato

Set 2:
Tom Sawyer
The Analog kid
Force ten
Show don't tell
Hand over fist
YYZ
Between the wheels
Tears
2112
The Spirit of the radio

Encore:
Natural science
Cygnus X-1

I had some trouble with the flow, but having not really seen or heard a lot of Rush live albums and DVD, I can't really imagine a good flowing Rush show. Still, I'd kill for a setlist like this.  :metal

That looks good, although Hand Over Fist is an interesting choice. ;)

The Rush Question of the Day: what is their best 4-song run on a studio album since 1982 (Signals through Snakes and Arrows)?

I'll go with these as the top 3 (only going with each album once):

1. Double Agent/Leave That Thing Alone/Cold Fire/Everyday Glory
2. Manhattan Project/Marathon/Territories/Middletown Dreams
3. Distant Early Warning/Afterimage/Red Sector A/The Enemy Within

Well done.  :tup  Other good streaks:

Show don't tell / Chain lightning / The Pass / War paint
Stick it out / Cut to the chase / Nobody's hero / Between the sun and moon / Alien shore (wow, actually an amazing five song run!)

And, finally, the absolute winner, and this is where I lower bulletproof shields to protect me:

One little victory / Ceiling unlimited / Ghost rider / Peaceable kingdom / The Stars look down / How it is / Vapor trail / Secret touch / Earthshine

This my choice.  Man I hope they do all of PW on tour sometime.

Likely agreeing with Kev (can't think of anything better off the top of my head, except perhaps 2-5 on PW instead of 3-6), and definitely agree with King. I think it's highly unlikely they do anything prior to Permanent Waves in full, and as much as I'd love to see all of Permanent, I've already seen most of the album and think they could pull off Power Windows a lot better these days.

Yes, I agree Nick.  Too hard on Ged's voice to do the older albums in full.  But maybe, just maybe they continue sneeking in old songs not played in a while.

Totally agree. If there is one album I would like to witness them playing all the way through its PW.

If only I had been alive for that PW tour, it would have been sweet. My Mom took my Uncle to see them on that tour and they always rub it in my face.

So the big rumor on rushisaband.com is that Rush will be playing all of Signals on the new tour.  I would kill to hear Losing It and Chemistry and the Weapon which I haven't heard since the Power Windows tour.

what? imho the weapon is the WORST song rush has ever written in their entire career. its soo bad. .__.

It's not even the worst song on the album- that would be Digital Man. Or maybe Chemistry- though I can live with that now. I didn't love the reggae at the time though but both songs start really well before bolloxing it completely. I struggled with Signals for a long time before I realised it's a very good album disguised as a poor one.

That is a great way to describe it and I felt exactly like this. It was only just recently that I started to really enjoy Signals.

Damn straight. aka I agreeee.  :metal

All four of those tracks are 5/5 songs to me. Made the rest of the album disappointing when I listened to Grace under Pressure for the first time.

Yeah, the old cover was better. Also disappointing to see it pushed back a few weeks.
Still, it's nice to finally hear something definitive about its release.

Still, it's nice to finally hear something definitive about its release.

It does suck, but at least we've got the track list! Now we only need the track TIMES... but with 12 tracks, if they say most of the songs run over 6 minutes, on average, that would mean the album could be over 70 minutes (a first for them). Then again, it seems this album is a big first for the band, as many sites are still saying it's a FULL concept album (not a 5-song suite with a bunch of unrelated songs). I think it's still true, now that there's even another track titled "BU2B2", so even if the tracks don't all segue like typical concept albums, there's at least connecting tracks or tracks that reference others around the album.

And knowing that there are 12 tracks to match the 12 symbols/"runic hieroglyphs", I'm sure there's some meaning/symbolism to how they are arranged, either as the clock face or in the track order. Exciting to hear a full concept album from Rush, especially a 12-track one that, hopefully, will run at or over 70 minutes! Push the boundaries even MORE, boys!

-Marc.

Yeah, the Bastille Day similarity has been noted... somewhere, I don't remember where now, but I know I remember reading it.

BU2B2? Five characters have never gotten me so excited.  :lol That's not because I particularly liked BU2B, by the way; just because Rush is finally doing a concept album, or a near concept album, or whatever. And if the entire album sounds like the clip (which sounds a hell of a lot like Bastille Day, by the way), and is as good as the 2-song sampler we got 2 years ago, then I'll be more than satisfied.

Yeah that's a huge Bastille Day similarity around the 20 second mark there.  I believe its part of "Headlong Flight" according to some descriptions.  I still liked it, but I do hope the whole album isn't full of "HEY REMEMBER THIS KIND OF STUFF WE USED TO DO"

Nevertheless I am still rock hard waiting for this to be released.
