Eh, no more medleys for me, please.  Rush hasn't done those in years, except for the "R30 Overture," so hopefully they are finished with them.

I usually only have problems with medleys if they are songs with lyrics - mashing together different songs with different lyrics makes little sense, but when it comes to instrumentals, I think it can be a creative way to present music, i.e. Dream Theater's "Instrumedley", or as you mentioned, the "R30 Overture" which, while originally were songs with lyrics, was made instrumental. I wouldn't mind something like that happening again.

But you're probably correct - I'm sure lots of Rush fans are more interested in full songs, and that being the case, I think I'd rather hear "Limbo" over "Where's My Thing?", especially since, IIRC, "Limbo" wasn't played throughout the entire TFE Tour, whereas "Where's My Thing?" was an RTB Tour staple.

Yeah, I would always prefer just hearing one song over a medley.

Yep.

I thought it was pretty good.  Don't  just because its some lesser being covering Rush.

Agree with Kev and PLM.  Luckily at both shows I've been to there were no medleys.

Question: Other than Caravan/BU2B, what B-sides are there by Rush? I get the impression that they don't have a whole lot of them.

Neither of those songs are B-sides, Rush basically has no original b-sides.

Why would you intentionally do something that is wrong? They are pre-album tracks originally released as a digital EP.

Eh, my definition of EP is more than 2 small, short songs. In todays modern music world, I think of an EP being 20-40 minutes long. Its really just a personal connotation  :lol

I'd say it's more of a double single.

I think it was Geddy who once said in an interview that they don't have B-sides and unreleased tracks laying around, because when they get together to make an album, everything ends up on the album.  Most bands have "extra" songs or whatever you want to call them, but Rush writes and records songs until they have enough for an album, then go with it.

If you guys are gonna be technical (which, you usually are since you're all prog nerds), B sides don't have to be unreleased tracks, I believe. Couldn't you have a single with a B side that is included on the album as well? Rush has done this numerous times.

So if Caravan is the single/A-side, then I guess BU2B would be the B-Side.

EDIT - Maybe not? I guess if both songs are included on an album, its considered a "Double A-Side". I've never heard of that term before, but oh well.  :lol

Are we talking B-sides or tracks that have not appeared on an album?

There first single was Not Fade Away/You Can't Fight It...neither of which appeared on an album, but You Can't Fight it was the B-side (I think. I'm fading fast here myself...)

There have been PLENTY of B-Sides over the years but only Vital Signs (live) has never been released in one form or another. I think you also have those vault versions of The Trees and Working Man that were only released as downloads some years ago. The guitar solos are slightly different on those.

As far as unreleased studio songs, there aren't any as a few others have pointed out.

Ytse, wasn't Vital Signs live released on a 45 B side.  I can't remember if it was New World man 45. I think?

Listening to Power Windows again.

My god I forgot how awesome this album is  :metal

Its still only #3 for me though. A Farewell to Kings and Grace Under Pressure are just too good for me.

I might give Power Windows a spin later, haven't listened to that in a while.  On the other hand, I have been listening to Grace Uunder Pressure quite a bit.  Definitely a top 3 album.

I love the cold and wintery feel of P/G.  The album cover matches the feel and vibe of the music PERFECTLY.

"Vital Signs" live is the B-side on all the New World Man single formats. (The 45, 12" inch, Promo clear vinyl 12")

I just had Grace Under Pressure on in the car over the weekend.

Actually, my son picked it out and I was struck (yet again) on how awesome a song (and solo and jam) "Afterimage" is.

I'd love to hear an updated version of this, but I doubt it would ever happen.

This, really. But for me, that phonemenon occurs rather often (but it's awesome when it REALLY fits well).

THIS

If only P/G had an epic, it just might pass AFTK for my #1 Rush album.

Very true. I love the little video they had of the cover on the P/G tour as well. Definitely my favorite Rush album art, and like you said it captures the feel of the album perfectly.

It's pretty good, but it's not that good.

Not quite.

But I have an idea. Out of boredom I'm writing up a Rush list, would anyone be interested in it once I'm finished with it?
