I really hope the quality of song-writing for the other 10 songs really stands up to (or above!) "Caravan" and "BU2B"! It always seems like whenever there's a Rush album coming out, the rest of that year has great music coming out!

Don't forget about Rush Hashanah on VH1 Classic starting tonight at 7pm ET.  24 hours of Rush!   :hefdaddy

Yeah, if that is the average quality of the record, then we're in for something amazing.

I've only listened to the studio versions of these songs twice. I don't want to ruin the new album experience.

I was reminded today of how lame the online Rush forums are.  I occasionally lurk at and post at both CP and TRF, but only because I cannot stomach too much of the online fan base for more than eight seconds.  Between some fan girl on the CP forum acting like it is her divine right to push her way into the front row at every Rush concert and the peeps at TRF acting like dopes about it, the headache I almost got from reading the threads on both forums about it was like a reminder saying, "Online Rush forums = The SUCK."

I still haven't found a Rush forum that I'm that comfortable with.  I try and get back into The Rush Forum here and there but I'm just not into much of the discussion. There are some Rush collectors there and those that are into more of the history, but those are few and far between.  I just find the signal to noise ratio on most Rush boards to be unbearable most of the time.

I'm as much of a Rush geek as the next guy I suppose, but I don't think I come across that way, do I?  (I know I'm anal and you're just going to have to accept that)

For those who care,  VH1 Classic's 24 hours of Rush began at 7 p.m. with the doc and right after that is the long-awaited Classic Albums Series of 2112/Moving Pictures. I should have just put the doc in the DVD player, but I wanted to see if there were any cool Rush commercials to enjoy.

I was already really looking forward to Clockwork Angels. Now even more so.
I'm finding Rush really comforting right now. Over 35 years with the current lineup, and still going strong.

I just really like the vibe from the two songs we've heard so far. It really makes me think of Counterparts, and I love Counterparts.

I love Counterparts but I prefer Test For Echo.

I'm so happy that I get to see them in 9 days, life has been terrible lately.

With Mike Portnoy's departure from Dream Theater, a band that has always seemed pretty solid, yet has had four member leave or get fired in 21 years (since the release of the debut), it really makes you realize how special a band like Rush is.  Since Neil Peart joined in the summer of '74, it has been the same three guys.  36 years with no breakups, no member changers, only one hiatus (for obvious reasons), etc.  It really is amazing when you think about it.  It is very hard for a marriage to last 36 years, much less a rock band, but they have somehow managed to do it. :tup :tup

I really like Test For Echo musically, but lyrically, it's embarrassingly bad at times. Luckily, their lyrics since then have been fine.

You realize just due to age Rush is going to be gone while you're relatively young no matter what?

Bah, there is nothing to jinx.  They have given us over 3 1/2 decades of music and tours.  If they retired tomorrow, sure, I'd be bummed, but still satisfied about everything they have done and given to us fans.  Really, at this point, everything they do is gravy. :coolio
