I saw them on Saturday Night Live. I had never heard of them before that. Not my kinda thing, but I was impressed with them. They have a unique sound. The drummer had a lot of energy too and was practially dancing behind the kit, lol. I like that the drummer didn't play any fills. They had me captivated.

Only listened to the first album, know a couple songs from Contra. Good band. Very unique musically. I look forward to seeing what great things this band can do. Plus, any band that mentions Peter Gabriel in a song gets some of my love.

For me personally, Vampire Weekend are a band where I'd rather just listen the hits than what might be a better album, but a less immediately rewarding one. But then I'm shallow when it comes to the hits, I can't get enough of them with pop artists.

As much as I don't like Florida, The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason theater is one of the nicest venues I have ever seen.

A friend of mine has been trying to get me into this band for a couple years now.
They certainly have a unique sound, but they're not my kind of thing at all. I've given them a few chances, and I just can't see the appeal.
Different strokes and all that I guess.

I can respect that.

My first listen to them was very skeptical, as I had never heard anything like it before and didn't know what to think. For some reason I think I was inclining myself more towards disliking them. I actually didn't really like their music until I just went ahead and bought Contra one day. Listening to them on the drive home was what won me over.

If you were to give the band one last chance, I'd say you should listen to the track "I Think Ur a Contra". It's really soft and beautiful, with strings and whatnot.
