I have no idea how many of you guys listen to them, but they are truly phenominal, and I've come to realise that The Blackening is one of the best metal albums ever.

Anyway, discuss.

The Blackening is the best them:

SEMI-GOD TIER:
The Blackening

EXCELLENT TIER:
Burn My Eyes
The More things Change

GOOD TIER:
Through the Ashes of Empires

SHIT TIER:
Supercharger

ULTRA-HYPER-SHIT TIER:
The Burning Red

I like the title track from The Burning Red, though; and Supercharger's "Bulldozer" is pretty cool. Also, The Blackening is just flawless. Even with "Slanderous"' silly lyrics it's awesome. And A FAREWELL TO ARMS :metal

I think they're decent.
saw them live last year opening for Metallica and must say that I enjoyed it.
Can't agree with you about the Blackening though. It's decent but not more.

Burn My Eyes and The More Things Change are my favourites.  The Blackening wasn't too bad either.

I own Through the Ashes of Empires, but I very rarely get the urge to listen to them.  There are better metal bands out there.

Machine Head are awesome in pretty much every way.

I was nuts on The Blackening when I first got it, but it's dropped off a bit again. I mean, it's still better than most metal albums made in the last ten years. I've said this a million times, but I consider A Farewell to Arms one of the best metal songs ever written. But while most of the longer tracks on that album are excellent, Halo has a bit of a 'long for the sake of it' feel, and Slanderous, though the cursing isn't without purpose (I haven't listened to that song in a while, but if I remember correctly, he's saying we create division between each other needlessly by turning all sorts of things into negatives and bashing each other when we could accept our differences and avoid it), still feels awkward a lot of the time.

Burn My Eyes, on the other hand, is actually flawless, and easily one of the best metal albums ever made.

Through the Ashes of Empires is strange. I find when I listen to it right through, there isn't a weak spot on the whole album, but if you take separate songs, most of them are a tad short of the tracks on The Blackening and BME. Still, there isn't a bad track, or even an average one, on the whole album.

I've been umming and aaahing about The Burning Red and The More Things Change forever. Both are still pretty good albums. TBR is the better of the two to listen right through, and probably has a better set of best tracks. It kind of has the upper hand for me simply because TMTC is just the band trying to make Burn My Eyes 2, and not doing so well, whereas on TBR, they're trying something different, and not doing too badly.

Supercharger is terrible. Bulldozer, pretty good. Deafening Silence, okay. The rest, terrible.

I have love Machine Head for quite some time.  I still remember seeing an ad for Burn My Eyes in a Guitar World magazine and going and buying that record.  Sooo freakin' good.

The Blackening was just an epic record in my opinion, start to finish... including Slanderous; such a good riff.

Can't wait for those guys to FINALLY get off tour and make me a new record! :)

Meh. Back when I was really into thrash, I listened to Burn My Eyes nonstop, almost every day. As I grew out of thrash I grew out of them as well. I've always meant to give The Blackening a shot but the track lengths cause me to be a bit apprehensive. They just don't seem like the kind of band that could effectively write 9-10 minute songs that keep my attention throughout. But who knows, maybe it's a great album and I'm completely wrong. I may never know, because I really have no desire to listen to it. :-\
Gadough isn't Hitler. He's much, much worse.

I'm STILL obsessed with The Blackening, and that obsession started in early April.

Halo's riff  :metal

Probably my favorite song. It strikes the perfect balance between brutally melodic and slow and menacing.

I've been jamming 'Unto the Locust' nonstop for about the past week.  I meant to check this out when it was first released, but somehow it slipped under my radar completely and I just now picked it up.  This album continues the trend they started with 'The Blackening' and continues in a similar direction.  The songwriting varies between brutal and melodic throughout the whole disc, and strives to create a balance between the rhythm, Flynn's vocals, and the leads.  Excellent lifting album!  If you liked TB at all, it is just unfair to yourself not to check this thing out.   :metal
Don't know where you live, but if your ever in Berkeley, dinner's on me.  Thanks man!!!

Robb is the biggest thing about this band that could use improvement or replacement. I've never felt like his voice matched the music, only rarely. And he's a complete tool.

His clean vocals are far superior to his harsh vocals - which just sound like a teenager having a tantrum.

Still THE metal album of the 00's for me. Just flawless from start to finish!! We should host a plug.dj listening session for this album and blow some minds!!

The Blackening just destroys ToT as far as I'm concerned (I don't rate ToT that high even compared to DT albums). It is literally better than any other album of the 00's that I can think of.

I feel like you only like about 5 bands and take every opportunity to shit on all the other bands out there whenever you can, I'd really like to know why? I know this comment in particular isnt necessarily condescending but 9 out of 10 times it is (Megadeth this, Slayer that, etc.. get original)

So The Blackening turned 10 today.

Pretty much yea. I think the plug.dj session went well last night. Was a great album to listen through. A few of us are thinking of doing it more regularly with album listening sessions. Be good to see some new faces  :tup
